David's dream was chaotic, pulling him between worlds. Shadows of his past life mingled with his present, creating a whirlpool of confusion and fear. Suddenly, he awoke not in the tent, but in a blindingly bright hospital room. The harsh lights pierced his eyes, and the sterile smell of antiseptic filled his nose. Machines beeped urgently, each sound each sound adding to his confusion.

As he tried to focus, his vision blurred, making the room spin around him. His body felt heavy, as though he was sinking into the hospital bed.

"Doctors!" a voice yelled, sounding distant and muffled, like it was coming from underwater.

He glanced around, feeling the constriction of IV drips attached to his arms, their tubes snaking to various machines monitoring his vitals. The room was a symphony of mechanical beeps and hums, creating an overwhelming sense of urgency.

Doctors and a lady stood near him, their voices sounding distant and muffled, as if he were hearing them from underwater. "How are you now?" one of the doctors asked, but the words seemed to stretch and warp. His vision remained blurry, shapes and colors bleeding into each other. His heart rate began to drop again, and he heard the urgent call for the shock machine. "Son, please come back!" the lady cried, her voice filled with anguish and desperation, echoing through the haze of his consciousness.

Pain jolted through him, a sharp, electrifying shock as the doctors tried to restart his heart. His body convulsed, and the beeping of the machines grew faster, more frantic. The room was a flurry of activity, nurses and doctors moving in a blur, their faces indistinguishable.

Just as the pain became unbearable, it vanished. David gasped, his eyes snapping open to the familiar sight of the tent. He was drenched in sweat, his clothes clinging uncomfortably to his skin. His breaths came in ragged, uneven bursts as he tried to ground himself in the present. The darkness of the tent was a stark contrast to the bright, sterile hospital room that had seemed so real just moments ago.

Muffin nudged him, grounding him back to reality. His heart pounded as he took in his surroundings. The inside of the tent was dimly lit by the faint morning light, but there was an unmistakable emptiness.

"Sarah!" he called, his voice echoing in the stillness. Panic gripped him as he scrambled to his feet and rushed out of the tent. He searched frantically around the campsite, scanning the area for any sign of her. The river nearby gurgled peacefully, contrasting sharply with his growing unease.

David's heart raced as he checked behind bushes, trees, and even the shadows cast by the rising sun. "Sara!" he shouted again, desperation tinging his voice. But there was no answer. His breaths came in quick, shallow gasps as his mind gone blank.

Returning to the tent, he noticed a letter lying under his sword. His hands shook as he picked it up, the paper crinkling under his grip. He knew this letter held the key to her disappearance and perhaps more about the cursed sword. His fingers trembled as he unfolded it, his heart pounding in his chest, the weight of the unknown pressing down on him.

David,

By the time you read this, I will be long gone. Please understand that I had no choice but to leave. The curse on the sword is tied to me, and staying with you would only put you in greater danger. Every moment we spent together, the curse grew stronger. I could feel its dark energy trying to consume us both.

You must follow the river east. There, you will find the answers you seek about the black cursed sword and how to break its hold. It is a perilous journey, but you are not alone. Trust Muffin; he will guide you through the dangers ahead. Remember, everything I have done is to keep you safe.

I know you will find me one day, and we will be together again.

Stay strong, David. I believe in you.

With all my heart, Sara

David's mind raced. Protect him? How was the curse connected to Sara? He knew he had to follow her trail. He couldn't let her face whatever dangers alone.

In sadness, he whispered to himself, "We can fight together, Sara. We would find any solution. We promised never to leave each other, but you broke it." His eyes filled with tears, numbing him to the world around. The weight of her absence felt like a crushing burden on his chest. He was very restless, so he hugged Muffin and release all the weight into tears.

Later;

He packed their things quickly, taking only what was necessary. Muffin, sensing the urgency, stayed close by his side. They set off at dawn, the eastern horizon guiding their steps.

The journey was arduous. They crossed rocky terrains and dense forests, every step taking them further from the town and deeper into the unknown. David's thoughts constantly drifted to Sara. He had to find her and understand the mystery of the cursed sword.

On the third night, they reached a clearing by the river. The moonlight cast an eerie glow on the water, and David sensed they were close to something significant. As they set up camp, a strange mist enveloped the area. Out of the mist emerged a spectral figure—the spirit they had encountered before.

"You seek the truth of the cursed sword," the spirit intoned. "To break the curse, you must confront its origin in the Shadowlands. There, the sword was forged in darkness."

David felt a chill run down his spine. The Shadowlands were a place of legend, feared by all. But he knew he had no choice. For Sara's sake, he had to go there.

The spirit faded, leaving David with a sense of foreboding. He and Muffin prepared for the next leg of their journey, knowing it would be their most dangerous yet. As they set off the next morning, determination etched into David's face, he felt a renewed sense of purpose. He would find Sara, uncover the secrets of the cursed sword, and break the curse once and for all.
