A/N: Happy Diwali my dear readers 💗

The old warrior was thrown to the ground, the demon's claws sinking into his flesh. Blood poured from Thalor's wounds, his breath coming in ragged gasps. "Thalor, no!" David cried, scrambling to his feet. He grabbed his sword and rushed to his mentor's side, his heart pounding with fear and anger.

"Muffin, heal him!" David shouted desperately; his voice raw with urgency. Muffin quickly bounded over, his eyes glowing with a soft, soothing light. As Muffin placed his paws on Thalor's wounds, a warm, golden aura enveloped the old warrior, slowing the bleeding and easing his pain. But the demon's attack had taken a heavy toll, and despite Muffin's healing magic, Thalor's strength continued to wane.

With a mighty roar, David swung his sword, slashing at the demon's wings. The creature howled in pain, its grip on Thalor weakening. Muffin continued to harass the demon, biting and scratching with relentless determination.

But cutting the demon's wings was no easy task. The creature's powerful wings beat furiously, lifting it off the ground and making it difficult for David to land a precise blow. Each time he swung his sword, the demon would twist and turn in the air, quickly dodging his attacks. David's arms ached from the effort, his swings becoming more desperate as he tried to ground the beast. The wind generated by the demon's wings buffeted him, making it hard to keep his footing. It was a struggle of strength and will, but David refused to give up.

With one final, desperate strike, David drove his sword into the demon's heart. But it was a blow hard-won through intense struggle.

As the demon's wings beat ferociously, buffeting David with gusts of wind, he felt his strength waning. The creature's howls filled the night; a dreadful cacophony that made every hair on his body stand on end. Blood dripped from fresh wounds on his arms and face, and his breath came in ragged gasps, fogging in the cold air. Yet, he refused to let the pain and fatigue overcome him. He knew that this moment was the culmination of all his training and the weight of Thalor's sacrifice rested on his shoulders.

David gripped his sword tighter, the leather handle warm and familiar against his palm. He locked eyes with the demon, feeling its malevolent gaze burn into his soul. The creature lunged at him once more, its claws outstretched, and fangs bared. David dodged to the side, barely avoiding the deadly swipe. His foot slipped on the blood-slick grass, but he caught himself, rolling to come up on one knee.

With a roar of defiance, David surged forward. He swung his blade upwards, catching the demon's wing. The creature screeched in agony, momentarily grounded by the force of the blow. Taking advantage of the demon's momentary stumble, Muffin leaped onto its back, biting into the tough hide and digging in with his claws. The demon twisted and thrashed, but Muffin held firm, adding his weight to keep the monster earthbound.

David knew this was his chance. Summoning every ounce of strength, he steadied himself and lunged, thrusting his sword toward the demon's chest.

The blade glowed faintly, as if responding to his will. David pushed with every ounce of strength he had left, feeling the resistance give way as the sword sank deeper into the demon's heart. The creature's howls grew more frenzied, its body convulsing as dark blood gushed from the wound.

David knew this was his chance. Summoning every ounce of strength, he steadied himself and lunged, thrusting his sword toward the demon's chest. The blade glowed faintly, as if responding to his will.

The demon, sensing the imminent danger, tried to take flight once more, its wings flapping wildly. But Muffin held firm, his claws and teeth sinking deeper into the creature's hide. David's sword met resistance as it struck the demon's tough skin, but he pressed on, forcing the blade deeper. The demon shrieked in pain, its eyes blazing with fury and desperation.

With that, as soon as the demon fell to the ground, a blinding light enveloped its body. The dark blood that had spilled glowed eerily in the light, casting strange shadows on the ground. David shielded his eyes from the brilliance, watching in awe and disbelief as the light intensified, surrounding the demon's lifeless form.

The demon's body began to dissolve into the light, its twisted limbs and wings disintegrating into fine particles that floated upward, shimmering like dust in a sunbeam. The air around them hummed with a strange, otherworldly energy. As the light grew brighter, it seemed to lift the weight of darkness that had settled over the camp.

With a final burst of brilliance, the light vanished, taking the demon's remains with it. The night returned to its tranquil state, the only evidence of the battle being the scars on the earth and the blood on David's sword. David and Muffin stood in silence, the echoes of the demon's last screech fading into the night.

David fell to his knees beside Thalor, tears streaming down his face. "Thalor, stay with me," he pleaded, his voice breaking.

Thalor's breathing was shallow, and his eyes were dimming, but a faint smile crossed his lips. With a trembling hand, Thalor removed a pendant from around his neck and placed it in David's hand. "This...may guide you," he whispered. "You've...always had the strength...within you."

David clasped Thalor's hand, feeling the life slipping away from his mentor. "I won't let you down, Thalor," he vowed. "I will find Sara and break this curse."

With a final, labored breath, Thalor squeezed David's hand. "Go...my child. May the spirits...guide you." And with that, Thalor's hand went limp, his eyes closing for the last time.

David's heart ached with grief, but he knew he had to move forward. He gently laid Thalor to rest, his hands trembling as he arranged the cloak over his mentor's still form. Each fold of the fabric felt like a farewell, a final act of respect for the man who had guided him.

The fire's embers cast a soft glow over Thalor's face, highlighting the peaceful expression that had replaced the fierce warrior's grimace. David closed his eyes for a moment, letting the memories of Thalor's wisdom and kindness wash over him. "Thank you, Thalor," he whispered, his voice breaking. "I won't forget your lessons. I won't let you down."

As he rose to his feet, David felt a nudge at his side. Muffin, sensing his sorrow, pressed close, offering silent comfort. The demon rabbit's warmth and presence grounded him, reminding him that he wasn't alone in this journey.

With a deep breath, David took one last look at Thalor. He wiped away the tears that had slipped down his cheeks and turned his gaze towards the eastern mountains. The path ahead was uncertain and fraught with danger, but Thalor's sacrifice had given him the strength and resolve to press on.

As the first light of dawn broke, David and Muffin prepared to continue their journey. The pendant Thalor had given him glowed faintly, a reminder of his mentor's final gift and the guidance it promised.

With renewed determination, David and Muffin set off towards the eastern mountains. They carried Thalor's wisdom and the memories of his sacrifice, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. The ancient temple awaited them, and with it, the answers they sought about the cursed sword and Sara's fate.

Before they left, Thalor handed David a pendant, saying, "This will protect you and guide you if you ever find yourself lost." With the pendant around his neck, David felt a renewed sense of hope.

Thalor was a man of few words but commanded respect. He listened intently as David recounted their quest, his eyes narrowing at the mention of the cursed sword. "There is a legend," Thalor began, "of a sword forged in the depths of the Shadowlands, bound by dark magic. Few have sought its secrets and returned. Your journey will not be easy."

David nodded, determination etched on his face. "I need to find Sara and break this curse," he said, his voice unwavering.
