Thalor agreed to help them, but only if David could prove his strength. Over the next few days, David trained rigorously under Thalor's watchful eye. He sparred with the clan's warriors, honing his skills and pushing his limits. Each bout brought him closer to understanding the strength required to face the challenges ahead.

David's days were filled with relentless training. Sweat poured down his face as he swung his sword, each strike met with a counter from his sparring partner. His muscles ached, and his hands blistered, but he pushed through the pain, determined to prove himself.

"Focus, David!" Thalor barked, his stern voice cutting through the sounds of clashing swords. "Your enemy will not wait for you to catch your breath."

David gritted his teeth, parrying a blow and countering with a swift strike of his own. The clan's warriors watched with respect as he continued to push his limits, his determination evident in every move.

During breaks, Thalor would offer advice, his words carrying the weight of years of experience. "Strength alone will not see you through, David. You must be smart, agile, and above all, resilient. The curse will test you in ways you cannot imagine."

Blood and sweat mingled on the training ground as David faced one opponent after another. Each defeat was a lesson, each victory a step closer to mastering his skills. His body bore the marks of his efforts, cuts and bruises painting a testament to his hard work.

Muffin too took part in the rigorous training. Thalor had a soft spot for Muffin, as he loves animals especially demons and devised special exercises to enhance Muffin's agility and strength. Muffin would dart through an obstacle course, leaping over barriers and dodging swinging logs. His speed and reflexes improved, turning him into a formidable companion.

"Quick as lightning, Muffin!" Thalor would encourage, his stern face breaking into a rare smile as Muffin completed the course flawlessly.

In the evenings, while David reflected on his lessons, Muffin would rest beside him, the day's hard work evident in his rapid breathing and twitching ears. Together, they formed a resilient duo, each day bringing them closer to their goal.

At night, exhausted but not defeated, David would sit with Muffin by the fire, going over the day's lessons in his mind. Thalor's words echoed in his thoughts, guiding his resolve. With each passing day, David grew stronger, more focused, and more prepared for the challenges that lay ahead.

~Few days later

One evening, after a particularly intense training session, Thalor pulled David aside. "There is a place," he said, "where the veil between our world and the Shadowlands is thin. It lies beyond the eastern mountains. Seek out the ancient temple; there, you may find the path of what to do next or maybe an idea about the curse."

After hearing this David eyes sparked with hope and a huge smile appeared on his face. He held Thalor's hands and squeeze them hard in excitement and thank him for all the guidance and practice. David looked at Muffin, held him in his hands and lift him a little and just smiled.

Seeing his reactions Muffin tilted his head in confusion. Soon David left Muffin on the ground and went to sleep.

That night, as the village lay quiet under the cover of stars, David and Thalor slept soundly by the fire. Suddenly, a loud thump echoed through the camp, jolting them awake. They scrambled to their feet, eyes wide with alarm.

Out of the darkness, a terrifying demon with wings as black as the night, a twisted body, and razor-sharp teeth descended upon them. Its eyes glowed with malevolent intent as it let out a bone-chilling screech. The chilling wind swept through the camp, adding to the sense of dread.

David quickly grabbed his sword, while Thalor reached for his staff, their hearts pounding as they prepared to face the monstrous threat. Muffin, sensing the danger, bared his teeth, transform into a demon and crouched low, ready to defend his companions.

The demon lunged at them with incredible speed, its claws slashing through the air. Thalor parried the attack with his staff, but the force of the blow sent him stumbling back. David sprang forward, swinging his sword with all his might. He managed to land a few blows on the demon's hide, but it seemed impervious to pain.

The fight was fierce and chaotic. The demon's wings beat furiously, creating gusts of wind that made it hard for David to keep his footing. Thalor chanted ancient incantations, summoning bursts of light to repel the demon. "David, we must work together!" he shouted, his voice strained with effort.

David nodded, and they coordinated their attacks, trying to drive the creature away from the village. Muffin darted around the demon, snapping at its ankles and dodging its powerful claws. His agility added an unpredictable element to their defense, forcing the demon to split its focus.

But the demon was intensely powerful. With a powerful swipe of its claws, it knocked David to the ground, his sword flying out of reach. As the demon closed in on him, Muffin leaped onto its back, sinking his teeth into the creature's wing. The demon screeched in pain, thrashing wildly to shake Muffin off.

Seizing the moment, Thalor stepped forward, his staff glowing with a brilliant light. "Not today, beast!" he roared, striking the demon with all his remaining strength. The demon shrieked in pain, reeling back, but it quickly recovered and lunged at Thalor with renewed fury.

The old warrior was thrown to the ground, the demon's claws sinking into his flesh. Blood poured from Thalor's wounds, his breath coming in ragged gasps. "Thalor, no!" David cried, scrambling to his feet. He grabbed his sword and rushed to his mentor's side, his heart pounding with fear and anger.

"Muffin, heal him!" David shouted desperately; his voice filled with urgency. Muffin quickly bounded over, his eyes glowing with a soft, soothing light. As Muffin placed his paws on Thalor's wounds, a warm, golden aura enveloped the old warrior, slowing the bleeding and easing his pain. But the demon's attack had taken a heavy toll, and despite Muffin's healing magic, Thalor's strength continued to wane.

With a mighty roar, David swung his sword, slashing at the demon's wings. The creature howled in pain, its grip on Thalor weakening. Muffin continued to harass the demon, biting and scratching with relentless determination.
