When the group arrives back at their hiding spot, you guys gather in the dimly lit meeting room. Everyone is exhausted but determined to sift through the evidence they've collected from the lab. The air is thick with tension and anticipation as papers, photos, and files are spread across the table.
You stand at the edge of the room, clutching your jacket tightly, the photo of your father burning in your pocket. A part of you wants to pull it out, show everyone what you found. But another part of you hesitates—what if this changes everything? What if they stop trusting you?
Lisa is the first to speak, flipping through a thick binder of research notes. "Most of this is about the virus mutations," she mutters, her eyes scanning the dense text. "Nothing concrete about Jeon Ha-joon, though. No names, no direct links."
Jimin frowns, frustrated. "There has to be something. We're missing a piece."
Yoongi stays quiet, leaning against the wall, his gaze shifting to you. You can feel his eyes on you, but you avoid his glance, focusing instead on the pile of documents the others are sorting through. Your heart pounds as your fingers graze the corner of the photo in your pocket.
"I didn't find anything either," Taehyung says, glancing at the scattered papers. "Just more speculation on the virus spread."
The conversation continues, but you stay silent, the weight of the photo heavy in your mind. You know this picture could change everything—but showing it could break their trust. If they find out your father might be involved, you're not sure how they'll react.
"I need to step out," you say softly, your voice almost drowned by the others. No one seems to notice as you quietly slip out of the room and head to the space you've claimed as your own. Your room feels colder than usual as you sit on the edge of the bed, the photo still tucked safely in your jacket.
Moments later, there's a soft knock on your door. It's Yoongi.
"Can I come in?" he asks, leaning against the doorframe with a concerned expression.
You nod, gesturing for him to enter. He steps inside, closing the door behind him, and sits down next to you, his eyes searching your face for answers.
"You've been quiet," he says, his voice gentle. "You didn't seem like yourself back there. Is something wrong?"
You hesitate, your mind racing. Should you tell him about the photo? About the uneasy feeling you have about your father? But before you can bring it up, another question forms in your mind.
"Yoongi," you start, your voice a little shaky, "do you know if my parents are safe? Are they still at home?"
He blinks in surprise at your sudden question. "Last I heard, they were fine. Your mother said your dad went out for supplies or something. Why?"
You bite your lip, trying to suppress the wave of emotions crashing over you. Your father being out at a time like this—it's too much of a coincidence.
"Are you sure?" you ask, your voice dropping to a whisper. "Did you hear anything else about them?"
Yoongi furrows his brow, clearly sensing that something is off. "That's all I know. Why? Did something happen?"
You swallow hard, unsure of how much to reveal. "I... I found something in the lab," you admit, glancing at him before quickly looking away. "A photo."
"A photo?" Yoongi repeats, his tone sharpening with curiosity. "What kind of photo?"
You open your mouth to answer but pause, the words stuck in your throat. Should you really tell him? Should you trust him with this? Or will it change everything between you and the group?
Yoongi waits patiently, sensing your internal struggle. "Y/N, if there's something you need to tell me, you can. You know that, right?"
You meet his gaze, the weight of the secret pressing down on you. It's now or never.
"I don't know if I should," you whisper, your voice trembling. "But I think... I think my dad might be involved in all of this. I found his picture in the lab."
Yoongi's eyes widen slightly, and for a moment, there's silence between you. His expression is unreadable, but you can tell he's processing what you just said.
"You're not sure, are you?" he asks quietly.
You shake your head, tears welling up in your eyes. "No. But... it doesn't feel like a coincidence. I need to know for sure."
Yoongi leans back, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "If that's true, it changes everything," he says slowly. "But we need more than just a photo to prove it. If you're right, we'll figure this out together. But you have to be careful who you tell. Jimin and the others... they might not take this well."
You nod, feeling a strange mixture of relief and fear. At least Yoongi knows now.
"Come on, let's go back to the room. We still need more evidence." Yoongi comforted.
"Who knows, it may not be your dad."
Or it might... you thought silently.
