David stood at his workstation; his face drawn in deep concentration. A small compartment rested on the lab table in front of him, housing a peculiar, greenish rock—Kryptonite. The rock emitted a faint glow, but it was safely contained within a specialized compartment, designed to neutralize its harmful effects. David's mind raced as he processed the data before him, trying to understand what this alien substance had done to Kai.

The news of the I-Island incident had spread quickly, tarnishing David's reputation. For days, he had been under scrutiny, but the revelation that Sam was the true mastermind, using David as a pawn, had lifted some of the weight from his shoulders. Sam had been taken into custody, and the consequences of his actions would soon follow. But David wasn't focused on that now. His attention was solely on the young man lying on the medical bed in his lab.

Kai lay still, his body pale and drained, his chest rising and falling steadily but weakly. Surrounding him were All Might, Izuku, and Melissa, who sat beside him, holding his hand tightly. Her eyes were filled with worry as the machines around them beeped, digital readouts flashing across the computer screen.

All Might crossed his arms, the concern on his face undeniable. "What's the prognosis, Dave? What did that rock do to him?"

David let out a heavy sigh, his fingers tapping nervously on the surface of his console. "I'm still analyzing, but... I've found something. It's unlike anything I've ever seen."

Kai stirred, his eyelids fluttering open. His voice was hoarse as he spoke. "David... what the hell did that rock do to me? I've never felt so weak in my life."

David adjusted his glasses, his face still etched with concern. "Kai... the Kryptonite somehow interfered with your body's ability to process solar energy. It essentially blocked your absorption of solar radiation and siphoned away the energy you had stored."

The room fell into stunned silence. All Might, Izuku, and Melissa exchanged shocked glances. Even Kai's normally composed expression was shaken.

"Wait," Kai said, his voice strained but insistent. "It didn't just weaken me... it drained my power?"

David nodded, pulling up a holographic projection of Kai's energy levels. "Yes, exactly. Your body is human, but your quirk—Solar Absorption—is incredibly powerful. It allows you to absorb sunlight and convert it into physical strength, speed, and durability. But this rock—Kryptonite—interferes with that process. It not only stops you from absorbing more solar energy, but it actively pulls away what you've already stored."

"So that rock basically nullifies Kai's quirk" Izuku said looking at his mentor who laid in bed.

Melissa's brow furrowed as she stared at the green rock, her fingers still intertwined with Kai's. Her voice, though soft, carried a sharp edge of frustration. "But... who would create something like that? Why would anyone make a weapon specifically designed to take away your power, Kai?"

Kai's eyes darkened, and for a moment, the weight of the question seemed to hang heavily in the air. He swallowed, his voice low and filled with an unmistakable bitterness. "I know exactly who would."

The room grew tense, and all eyes turned to him. All Might's expression tightened with concern, while Izuku leaned forward, worry etched across his face. Melissa's grip on Kai's hand tightened, sensing the change in his tone.

"The same man who experimented on me," Kai muttered, his eyes hardening. His voice dropped even lower, almost a growl. "And on my little sister."

The last words came out with venom, filled with an uncharacteristic hatred that caught everyone off guard.

Izuku's eyes widened in shock. "Your... sister?" he asked, confusion lacing his voice. "You have a sister?"

Kai clenched his fists, nodding stiffly. "I didn't know until recently. Wolfram revealed it to me."
