Eight Flash Back

Ellie picked at the grass next to her as she stared out at the black lake. She sighed heavily. She hated fighting with Harry. But she was tired of hearing him talking about how Draco was always up to something. It was infuriating.

"Thought I'd find you here." Ellie glanced over her shoulder and smiled sadly as Draco approached her.

"Am I that predictable?" Draco chuckled as he sat down next to her.

"For someone who pays attention to you, yes. Your brother on the other hand is tearing apart the castle looking for you." Ellie groaned and rolled her eyes.

"He can keep looking for all I care. He was getting on my nerves." Draco huffed a laugh, his gaze traveled down to her hands, and he let out a long sigh before he picked up her hand examining the damage that she had recently done.

"El you have to stop picking at your fingers. You are hurting yourself." Ellie scoffed.

"When I am able to stop stressing, I'll stop." Draco huffed again and pulled a ring free of his finger. Ellie's eyes widened as she watched him place it on her middle finger. Instantly the ring sized down to fit her finger.

"You play with this ring all the time. Wear it and mess it instead of tearing at your fingers." Ellie smiled brightly and leaned forward to place a kiss on Draco's cheek. But Draco turned at her sudden movement and her lips brushed against his.

Ellie blushed and touched her lips in shock. Draco just stared at her for a long moment before he leaned in closer to her again.

"Little wolf..." Ellie opened her mouth to explain herself, but nothing would come out.

"I-I'm so sorry. I meant to kiss your cheek and you turned-" Draco smiled softly.

"I'd like to try that again. But on purpose this time." Ellie smiled at him curiously as she searched his stormy irises.

"Okay?" Draco grinned as he moved his hand into her hair and settled at the back of her head. He pulled her to him. Ellie gripped his shoulders to keep herself up right.

Draco brushed his lips against hers and Ellie gasped at the electric shock that shot through her body.

Draco inhaled a sharp breath as everything else faded away. Her lips were softer than he thought possible. His free arm wrapped around her torso and pulled her even closer.

She gasped against his mouth and Draco took that as his opportunity to deepen the kiss. Ellie squeaked causing Draco to pull back and let out a breathless laugh. He admired her flushed cheeks and slightly swollen lips. Her green eyes searched his face.

"Why'd you do that?" She finally whispered. Draco gave her a confused smile.

"Because it's all I've been thinking about for days." Ellie smiled and shook her head in disbelief.

"Who would have thought. A Malfoy and a Potter. Not enemies." Draco chuckled softly.

"You're a Lupin. Don't think I don't notice when you cringe if someone calls you Potter instead of Lupin." Ellie sighed heavily. Drawing her knees up to her chest and looking back out at the lake.

"I feel bad that I don't want to use Potter. But Remus raised me and he, my dad. Sirius too. So, I just-" Draco places a comforting hand on Ellie's back.

"You do not have to explain it to me."

Ellie sat in the common room staring blankly at that fire. Everyone had since gone to bed, and she was glad for the quiet. She needed to be alone and not worry about the wizarding world like everyone else was. She didn't want to deal with any of it and she was already overly worried about her family. And all that she wanted to do was to be able to breathe for a moment without having to worry about anyone.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" Ellie glanced up as Ginny sat down next to her. She smiled faintly and turned her attention back to the fire.

"I needed a moment to myself." Ginny tilted her head trying to get Ellie to look at her.

"You know that I don't care who you like as long as they treat you right, right?" Ellie's eyebrows drew together as she turned in her seat to look at Ginny.

"What are you on about?" She asked defensively. Ginny gave her pointed look and she sigh heavily.

"I'm talking about Malfoy. You two have been spending a lot of time together and I've noticed that he is gentle with you. And you seem carefree with him." Ellie opened her mouth to say something to Ginny. But Ginny shook her head and took Ellie's hand.

"I won't tell anyone. You're one of my best friends and I just want you to be happy and if Malfoy makes you happy then I'm okay with that."
