Willow POV:
The soft, cool breeze from the wind accompanied me as I continued my wait on the wall near the shrine's entrance; my legs dangled over the aged stone wall. The clouds slowly swam through the sky in a gentle manner. The scene before me kept me entertained. The soft sound of an elevator and tapping of shoes grabs my attention. I turn my head over my shoulder at the shrine. Link popped out waving to me 'hello' with a bright, dimpled smile.
I gave him a content smile back at him. He climbed up the wall and sat down with me, legs dangling beside my own. His smile still lies upon his facial features. I glanced over at him and started the conversation.
"I assume you got that spirit orb without a problem?" Link nodded as he placed his hands behind him, leaning them on the concrete of the wall as he looked up into the sparsely cloud filled sky.
"Yep, you know it! I hope I didn't take too long for your liking. They're pretty straightforward honestly, they just have lots of parts to them."
I gently rolled at his teasing and justification for his bad time management in the shrines. "Uh huh, yes I totally believe you. Whatever, I think our next target shrine should be the cliff side one up there. It's easier out of the remaining two to get up to." I pointed up to the distant structure on the cliff.
A chuckling Link nodded his head in agreement. He desperately wanted to wait as long as possible to head up the freezing mountain's peak. He was shivering just thinking about it.
The two of us jumped down from the wall and made our way over, making sure to avoid any machine remains. Though thankfully, the majority of them were not functioning and had random machine parts on them. Link was happily picking them up and putting them away in his pockets.
As we were walking, we went by a small hut that looked like it had seen better days. Moss, dirt and weeds of all kinds covered the ground and building. The wood looked borderline rotting and the roof seemed as if it had holes forming, letting warm sunlight inside.
Not far from the hut was the Old Man chopping some wood with what looked to be a newly constructed axe. He swung with great power and cut the thick tree trunks with only three swings.
Once we got close enough, the Old Man turned and greeted us with a gentle smile, placing the axe over his shoulder with one hand while the other waved to us in greeting. We both waved back to him as we approached him.
"Oh, hello you two! How are you two making out on those spirit orbs?" I looked up to him with a relaxed smile and my arms crossed around the front of my body. I stood there quietly and waited for Link to speak. I figured that I'd let Link do the talking since he's doing all the work to get the orbs.
"It's going well, we're on our way to get the third one." I nodded my head in agreement. I just continued to listen to the two men speaking with each other.
"Ah, good, good! You're making some good progress. While you're both here, would one of you two help me chop this tree down? It's getting a bit difficult to do it at my age now."
I swiftly nod my head in agreement, he hands me his axe and I start to chop the tree down. The old man gives me a few tips on how to cut the tree better before I start. With the tips in consideration, I cut the tree properly and it fell down in only a few quick swings.
I turn my head to the two guys behind me and give them a cheerful smile. I rest the handle of the mighty axe on my shoulder with the blade facing down in the air.
"Need any more wood? I'd be more than happy to chop some more up if you needed!"
The old man shook his head 'no' and thanked me for my assistance. Link and I helped him take the wood back to his fairly damaged hut. We chatted with the elder about how we've gotten two spirit orbs and we plan on going to the top of the plateau for the other two.
He gave us a small smile and a pleased nod. He chatted with us about how the weather up there was freezing cold and that we would need to have some kind warm gear, warming elixirs or spicy food before we could head up.
"Ah, if you both are going to be headed up the mountain for those shrines then I can give you my warm doublet. It gets terribly chilly the higher you go."
Link sighed with relief at this kind gesture from the old man but I was suspicious. Especially since he has us running around for no reason only because he had withheld information from us.
He laughed with a great boom in his chest. He spoke again with kindness yet his words irked me silently. "Well, I'll hand it over to you if you can help figure out this recipe's missing ingredient and bring it to me."
My shoulders slump at the request. Link just ignores my clear distaste for yet another request from the old man and agrees. The elder summarises that he needs the recipe for spicy meat and seafood fry. He remembers that it needs spicy peppers and raw meat but can't remember the third ingredient. He tasked us to find what ingredient it was and show it to him, then we'd get the doublet.
Link and I both stand up while nodding our heads. We leave to find the missing ingredient which was very obvious to the both of us.
"*Sigh,* this is going to be a big pain in the ass, isn't it?" Link nodded his head in agreement and we both headed off together to locate a fish.
- 1 hour later -
It only took an hour but we had managed to find AND catch a fish from a nearby pond. We gave the fish to the old man and he gave us the doublet in return. As we left the old man sitting by his fire, Link and I chatted while walking over to the cliff where the shrine was laying up above.
We managed to get over the ravine by chopping down a tree; we both balancing over it to get to the wall of rock in front of us. We grimaced at the sight and we began to climb to the top, since there really was no way to go but up.
We used ledges from the rocks to gain a stable position and rest to gain our strength back. With sweat building up on our faces, we trudged through and ended up at the top of the cliff side.
We both took a minute or two to catch a few deep breaths. Whilst we did this, Link took the opportunity to activate the third shrine on the list. Link turned over to me, grinning at my recovering state.
I looked up to him and sighed, smiling. I stood up and walked over to him as the doors to the shrine opened for him to enter. "Have fun~! Please don't take too long now, will you?"
He nodded his head as he walked in, turning around and continuing to face me. The elevator activates and the last thing I see from him is a nod and a sweet exclamation.
"I won't! Catch ya in a few!" He quickly disappears inside the shrine. I looked around in boredom, I ended up looking over to the sight from where I stood. The land of Hyrule was absolutely stunning from up high. I could only imagine how beautiful it would be at the mountains higher up and in the distance.
I sit down on the ledge of the cliff we just climbed and enjoy the sights. Breathing out a deep sigh of relaxation.
"This is something I could get used to."
