"Josie, what is wrong?" JJ asks me once we're back in the car. He speaks quietly enough that Pope and Kie can't hear him
"I don't want to talk about it, JJ" I tell him at the same volume. It is not the place or time to try to discuss that I am bothered by how interested in Kiaras sex life he is. Let alone how we still have yet to talk about us. That technically if he were to go off and sleep with some random girl - he wouldn't really be in the wrong.
"Jos-" He tries
"No. We can talk later. I'm not doing this in the car with them on our way to go stalk Ward." I sternly tell the blond. And if we are doing this I need to think of what I want to say and not just spill all of my feelings of everything into him at once.
"Okay. But the second we get home. We are discussing this." JJ told me and then sat back not giving me an option.
We pulled up to the meeting point of Gavin and Ward and got out. It's pouring rain and the thunder is crashing. I know John B is alive but it just feels like that night again, and I don't like it.
We get out of the car and run to a fence and look over to find Wards car. Pope has this old looking camera that somehow isn't breaking from water damage.
"Nice camera. Where'd you dig up that relic?" JJ asks from my left. "Why don't you just use your phone?"
"Well, first of all, I like my antique electronics. And second of all, this is a telephoto. It allows me to get a close image from far away." Pope explains his camera choice
"Lord of the dorks" Kie comments
"For definite proof of witness payoff, we're gonna need high quality glass." Pope tells us
"Shit there he is" I speak up and point to the guy running
"Yo, get down." JJ says grabbing my arm and pulling us lower
"And there's Gavin. Where are you going you son of a bitch. No. No, no, no, no. I'm losing him! Shit! Where is he going?" Pope asks and I feel JJ looking around
"Hold on." JJ says and jumps down
"JJ, no!" I seethe as he runs off. He only gets to the end of the alley before whistling and telling a us to follow him. The second we get close we tells us "we gotta go up top" and takes off...again
We scale the ladder leading to the roof and once we're at the top the run to the edge.
"You rollin' Pope?" JJ asks
"Are you getting it?" Kie also asks
"Yea, I see them." He confirms
"You better be. I'm not getting soaking wet for no reason," I mumble
"Ward just handed Gavin something. I think it's a duffle bag" Pope narrates
"Guys, I think this is a payoff." JJ says
"Gavin doesn't look happy at something. It looks like he's yelling at Ward" Pope continues
"Why?" Kie questions
"I don't know, but he looks mad." Pope tells us
We can see their bodies but not their faces like Pope can and none of us can hear anything. Then suddenly their fight
Indistinctive comments are heard from all of us at once and we watch the men fight.
