"Before class is dismissed, I want to remind everyone that we have a test next week on Chapters 1-11. Study guides were given o...." Zaire stared at the clock as he tuned his teacher out for the 100th time. He had no interest in being at school today and couldn't give a damn about what anyone was saying.

Since he stepped into school, he's been avoiding everyone to the best of his ability. Zaire had no desire in talking to anyone and wanted everyone to leave him alone. But he could only dream.

"Yo Z!! Z wait up nigga!" Zaire's friend, Lance, yelled as he jogged to catch up to him. "Damn nigga slow down." He chuckled. Zaire didn't respond and continued to walk to the cafeteria. "Bro let me tell you so last night Chanel called me and asked a nigga could we talk after she did that fuck shit at the basketball game. But you know me, a nigga got morals and self respect now so I said nah i'm cool on that." Zaire nodded and pretended to be listening. "But then she hit a nigga talking about some oh I miss you and i love you...can't lie i almost fell for it but then I remembered..."

Zaire tuned him out and walked through the cafeteria doors and went to an empty table while Lance grabbed food. Zaire scrolled on his phone mindlessly, not looking for anything in particular. He just wanted to keep busy. Soon a presence sat across him and he looked up to see Ever and Tiara.

"Hey Z." Tiara said softly and he did a nod. Zaire and Ever looked at each other and then looked away, both seeing that they were there physically but mentally...they were at home in their rooms. "You hungry, E?" Tiara asked and Ever shook his head.

"No but thank you." He said and she faintly smiled before continuing to eat her food. Tiara didn't take his current attitude to heart, she knew he was dealing with a lot and just wanted to be there for him.

Ever plucked the strings on his guitar as tears fell onto the chords. He didn't bother to wipe them away cause he knew more would come. His phone rang for the third time and he finally got up to see who it was.

"Ever?! Is everything okay? I've been calling and texting you since yester- E?" Tiara could hear sniffling through the phone and grew worried. "What's wrong Ever?" She asked.

"My dad..." Ever could feel himself about to break down so he put the phone on mute so he could gather himself. "My dad went to rehab yesterday." Tiara covered her mouth.

"I'm so sorry Ever. I didn't know."

"It's cool."

"What can I do for you during this time?" Ever wiped his face and took a deep breath.

"I don't know but...I'll let you know when I do."

Ever stared at Tiara and faintly smiled, making her blush.

"Why you staring at me, E?" She asked before taking a sip of her juice.

"I can't stare at you now?" He asked with a smirk and Tiara giggled. Ever continued to make small talk with Tiara until Zaire finally spoke.

"Lance bro shut the fuck up...for real." Zaire said tired of hearing Lance's voice.

"Who pissed in this niggas cereal this morning?" Lance said chuckling. Zaire got up from the table and walked away. "What I do?"
