Karina left the bathroom and took a deep breath before exiting the building, seeing the kids standing by the car with smiles on their faces. " God give me strength."

"Dang took you long enough." Zaire said leaning off the car.

"Can we go in now? Did they search you?" Nilan asked standing close to Karina.

"I gotta leave my phone in the car?" Ever asked. The questions kept piling up and Karina didn't know if she should answer or just ignore them and tell them the news. Zaire stared at his mother as she was in deep thought and noticed her expression. It was an expression that he has seen for months and knew all too well. He sighed and walked to the other side of the car.

"Get in the car, NiNi and Ever." He said before opening the door.

"What? Why?" Nilan asked as she looked at her brother. Ever looked at Zaire and then at Karina, reading the same expression.

"Just get in, NiNi." Ever said somberly before getting in the car. Nilan looked at her mom and saw a tear rolling down her cheek.

"I thought- It's been two weeks ma." Nilan said still confused but her sadness overshadowed it. "You said we could see him today." She said feeling herself about to cry.

"I'm sorry-"

"You know what, I didn't wanna see him anyways, I hate him!!" She yelled before getting in the car and slamming the door. Karina turned away from the car and cried, not wanting the kids to see but they were too busy crying themselves.

"You shouldn't have said-" Ever began to say before Nilan interrupted him.

"Shut up talking to me, Ever. I'm not in the mood right now, okay?" She said as she typed away on her phone. Shortly, Karina got in the car and pulled off without saying another word. The warm and fun atmosphere they created on the way there was now cold and still.

Chris lied in bed staring at the ceiling, tapping his finger against his hand.

"Please don't...judge me and I won't...judge you...and if you love me..." Chris softly whispered as he continued to stare. "If you love me...you'd get me the fuck out of here, Karina. I shouldn't be here." He said loudly as he groaned and got up to walk out on the balcony and sit.

"Mr.Brown? It's Mrs.Thompson again." She said as she slowly walked in. She saw him on the balcony and walked outside. "Beautiful day, huh?"

"What you need?" He asked not looking at her.

"Your wife wanted me to give this to you." She put the letter on the small table beside him before turning to walk out. Before she completely walked out she stopped. "This isn't easy Mr.Brown...but it's going to be a living hell if you're doing it alone. Don't shut out your support system." She walked out before he could respond and he looked over at the letter. He slowly picked it up and opened it.

Dear Chicken Scratch,

Chris chuckled lowly and continued to read.
