Nilan and Ever slowly opened their doors and looked towards their parents room. Nilan walked out her room biting her lip with a worried look on her face. Ever walked towards her and grabbed her hand to comfort her.

"It's okay, NiNi." Ever whispered but she shook her head not wanting to hear it. Zaire opened his door.

"Psst." He said softly and they looked towards his room which was closer to Karina and Chris's. He motioned for them to come to his room and they quickly walked in, trying to make minimal noise. Once they were all in his room, he closed the door softly and sat on his bed. "Y'all heard them?" Ever simply nodded.

"I've never heard them argue before...I'm scared guys." Nilan said with glossy eyes. Zaire pulled her arm lightly and made her sit by him. He threw his arm around her and pulled her close.

"Ain't nothing to be scared of NiNi."

"They've never been this angry at each other...I don't think they've ever been angry with each other, Z. Are they going to get a divorce?!" Nilan asked, scared of the thoughts she was having as she replayed everything she heard.

"Ma and dad getting a divorce? Never." Ever said, finally saying something.

"How are you so sure, E?" Nilan asked as a tear rolled down her cheek.

"Just trust me...they not getting a divorce." He said sternly. Ever wasn't sure though. He didn't know what it would be like after hearing his parents arguing like that.

"Let's watch a movie. You pick whatever, NiNi." Zaire got up and turned on his projector. Nilan chose her favorite movie, Norbit, and got comfortable in Zaire's bed.

Although they laughed softly at the comical movie, they all felt uneasy about the events that took place tonight.

The sun woke up Chris aggressively, penetrating his eyes with no remorse. He buried his head in his pillow and reached over to feel ice cold sheets beside him. Chris looked towards Karina's empty spot and remembered the argument that happened last night. He sighed deeply and sat up in the bed to stretch. The time on his phone read 6:50 am. He got out the bed, used the bathroom and quickly did his morning routine so that he could wake the kids up. Once he was done, he walked into Zaire's room and smiled.

Nilan was under the covers sleeping with her hair all over her face and her arms spread out. Ever was on Zaire's couch with the blanket hanging off his body and Zaire was lying horizontally across the end of his bed with no cover on.

Chris walked in further and shook Zaire.

"Get up, Z. Y'all gotta be at school in a few." Chris said still shaking Zaire. Nilan heard his voice and quickly sat up trying to move her hair from her face. Her eyes were slightly closed but when she saw Chris, she jumped out of bed and jumped into his arms. "Good morning princess." Chris said as he kissed her head.

"Morning." Her voice was low and raspy. Chris grabbed her head so he could kiss all over her face making her laugh. At this point, Zaire and Ever were both up and stretching.

"Go handle that dragon breath." Chris pinched her nose and she rolled her eyes walking out the room. Zaire rubbed his eyes and dapped up Chris. "Morning Z."
