"So where should we begin?" Dr. Tonell said to the three siblings who weren't doing much talking. The room fell silent again. "I see...well we can just continue getting to know each other. That's okay with you guys?" Nilan and Ever nodded but Zaire just sat there looking at whatever.
"You look...young." Nilan said causing Dr.Tonell to chuckle.
"Well thank you, I just turned 38 a few days ago."
"What day?" Ever asked.
"March 5th." Nilan gasped and smiled brightly.
"That's Ever's birthday!! Y'all are twins! Well you're way older but still." She said causing Dr.Tonell and Ever to laugh.
"How long do we have to be here?" Zaire said causing everyone to stop laughing.
"What is your problem?" Nilan asked looking at her older brother. "You've been in a pissy mood for days now and it's starting to kill my vibe."
"NiNi, stay in a child's place. I'm talking to the adult in the room." Zaire said not looking her way. "Dr.T, how long?"
"You don't have to talk to her like that, Z." Ever said and Dr.Tonell put her notebook to the side.
"Alright everyone let's not get rowdy. Zaire the session ends in 35 minutes but if you don't want to be here then you are welcome to sit in the lo-" Zaire got up and walked to the door.
"Coo, i'll be waiting on y'all." He said before leaving.
"How has he been taking all of this?" She asked the two.
"Well..." Nilan wanted to bring up him turning to weed but she didn't want to say it with Ever around. "He's never around anymore...he's not always in a pissy mood but when he is I hate it."
"He acts just like our dad." Ever said shrugging.
"How so?" Dr.Tonell asked.
"He's stubborn and he runs away from his issues. Our dad basically abandoned us for a year for whatever reason and now he in rehab for however long so I don't blame Z. He just having a hard time just like us."
"He didn't abandon us, E. He still came home." Nilan said sticking up for Chris.
"Came home to do what cause it wasn't to spend time with us or talk to us. He came home to sleep and then he was gone again and honestly he barely did that."
"You sound like an idiot."
"You said yourself you felt abandoned cause he always forgot to get you from practice. You even thought ma and dad was gon get a divorce cause of that fight they had. He's made ma cry so much these past few months and I sound like an idiot?? Stop being delusional."
"Stop making it seem like he's a bad dad when he's not!" Nilan raised her voice.
"You're right, he's a terrible fuckin dad." Nilan hopped out of her seat and attacked Ever.
