Lorraine awoke but she wasn't in bed, everything around her was dark. She was having a vision. She tumbled through the darkness until she heard its voice.
"I see you"
"We are going to stop you" It laughed, more like a cackle.
"You're weak. Broken. Worn down. Old. You'll die fighting me or he will"
"Leave Ed alone"
"That's not my choice. Keeping fighting me and I will kill him, then your daughter, your mother, your friends"
"I will send you back to hell before you can try"
"Will you?" She felt it smirk. A figure emerged from the darkness, caped in darkness, a woman with eyes like death itself "There is a cost to these things eventually"
"I've paid the price, five times over and more" It cackled again.
"This price is worth much more" The demon was gone then, leaving Lorraine in the darkness. Then the cries broke through. Judy calling out her name. Ed calling to her. Her babies screaming whimpers, echoing all around her. Everyone she loved calling out to her but she couldn't save them, she couldn't help them. Lorraine sat bolt upright in bed, the sounds gone and the light returned to the room.
"ED! ED!" She screamed out for him "ED!" She screamed again as he burst into the room, instantly gathering her up in his arms as she wept against his shoulder "Make it stop. Please make it stop" She begged through harsh cries.
"I'm here. I'm here, hon" He tried to assure her but it didn't stop her tears.
"Please make her stop" She cried harder, gripping his shirt in her hands.
"It's gone now, it's gone" He assured her but she kept crying.
"She won't stop. She won't ever stop coming for me" She sobbed.
"What can I do? Tell me what I can do"
"I need my brain to stop. I need it to all stop. I need my head to be quiet" Ed understood, turning to the men in the doorway.
"Give us a minute" Jerry nodded closing the door behind him and detective Wyatt "Are you sure?" She nodded slightly.
"Please make it stop" Ed ran his hand up her leg, going under her skirt.
"I've got you. I've got you" He assured her, kissing her wet cheeks before he met her lips. Him, close, his hands on her body. It was the only thing that could shut her brain down completely, almost like a reboot. She could already feel the fluttering between her legs as his hand skated higher.
"I've got you hon" He assured her as he reached her panties. She shuddered in his arms at his feather light touch, then his hand moved higher before it dropped again sliding under the waistband.
"Need you" Her breathless voice was soft, whimpering. He nudged a finger inside of her, feeling her shudder again.
"Alright?"
"More" She whimpered again. Ed complied, expertly moving his finger exactly where she needed it but it still wasn't enough.
"Ed. Please. More" He complied instantly, sliding another finger beside the other one. She gasped, slowly letting go of the nightmare vision as she gave into Ed's touches. She moaned softly, her noises reminding him of where to push and stroke, but he didn't need reminding.
"I've got you. I love you Lorraine. You're so beautiful. You're safe" He assured her, his words spurring her on. She buried her head in his shoulder to silence herself, aware of Jerry and the detective downstairs "I've got you. You're alright. We're okay. I've got you beautiful" She moaned louder, the sound muffled by clothing, he could feel her tightening around him "So good. You're so beautiful. My amazing wife. So strong. So beautiful" She tightened even more around.
"Ed" She moaned before she shattered under his touch, gasping into his shoulder.
"That's it. Well done. So beautiful" He praised her as she caught her breath "Better?" She picked her head up and met his eyes.
"Yes, thank you" He sighed, worried that his question might send over the edge again.
"What do you want to do?"
"I want to stop her. I think I know who she is" He nodded, slipping his hand from between her legs before he slipped his fingers between his lips, licking away her taste "Please wash that hand before you go downstairs" He chuckled as he dropped his hand from his mouth.
"I will" His smile faded "Are you sure you're okay?"
"I feel more grounded now. I feel better when this is over, after we end it" He nodded "I'll be down in a minute" He smiled, kissing her cheek before he headed off to the bathroom. Lorraine caught her breath for a moment longer before she pulled herself up from the bed, righting her clothes and wiping the damp away from her cheeks before she headed downstairs to the others. She felt three sets of worried eyes on her as she crossed the room and picked up the picture, handing it to Ed.
"It's her" Ed nodded "Whatever she did, it's bad. It's like looking at the devil" She told them, crossing her arms over her chest, she rubbed at her own arms attempting to comfort herself.
"Madeline Wickford. She murdered her own husband, drowned her daughter and suffocated her son before she killed herself in the attic" Jerry told them.
"Fitting. It explains the fixation on Ed and I, the references to...our children" Ed didn't miss the pause.
"So, how do we stop her?" Jerry spoke up, breaking through the silence. Lorraine sighed loudly.
"While you figure it out do I have time for another nap?" Ed chuckled "I'm going to need all my strength to send her back to hell"
"Want me to tuck you in?" He teased, knowing that she would reprimand him for it later based on the glare that she gave him.
"Why? Can't you stay away from me for more than five minutes?" She teased back with a quip of her brow before she headed back to the bedroom.
"She must be feeling better if she's teasing you" Jerry smiled.
"She's not, the teasing is just to make sure that I don't worry about her, but I'm always going to worry about her"
"True love" Jerry smiled, earning one in return from both men.
"Yes, it is"
