Punches were thrown everywhere. The lunchroom filled with so many phones being pulled out. I looked over to Janice, who started all of this, and then to Kira, who was trying to stop the boys from fighting. Going over there to help her, Lisa stopped me from doing so. "Let go of me. They need to stop" getting her off of me. I ran towards the fight and helped Kira. In the process of doing so, I saw one of the boys about to hit Kira in the face, not paying attention. She was there anyway. So I pushed her out of the way without any thought and felt myself get hit in the face by a boy on the football team. The action made me fall on the floor and hit my head. All I can hear is my name being called; after that, I lost consciousness.

I woke up with the nurse hovering over me, checking if I was okay. As I looked around, I saw Kira and Lisa with me too. The boys must be in so much trouble right now. Kira was the first one to see me awake. "Lia, you're okay; I was so worried," she said with so much concern. I see Lisa in the back, rolling her eyes. "She's only here because you and your friends want to fight my friends," Lisa said. Kira was about to say something but interrupted. "Janice started the whole thing, you know; she came by our table saying bull crap," I told her, hurting from this headache. The nurse told me that my mom was on her way to pick me. "Lisa, you need to tell your friends to back off. You see where the situation got me now? "I continued. She looked at me then walked out of the office.
It's Monday, and we are already having fights and nonstop bullying. What's worse is that I don't even know if the boys are okay. Knowing the football team, they might lie about the situation, especially that jerk Jackson. What he said earlier to Theo has me thinking a lot. Maybe I shouldn't be thinking right since I kind of have a concussion. 'Malia, your mom is here to put you up," the nurse said to me on her way to help me sit up. The look on Kira's face makes me sad. I hope she doesn't think it's her fault when it's not.
The walk to the office was kind of embarrassing because there were kids in the hallway staring at me. Like yeah, I got punched in the face by a strong boy, so what? Once I got to my mom, her eyes widened so quickly you would've thought they were going to pop out. "Who did this to my baby?" she cried. She's so dramatic! She was looking around my face, checking the bruises on my cheek. I can tell she's mad once her eyebrows drop to her eyes. I just wanted to leave without her making a scene. "Mom, let's go. I'm tired and really want to go home now," I said, pulling her. She must have gotten the message and followed me quickly.

As soon as I got home, my mother wouldn't give me the chance to put my stuff down; instead, she started asking me questions. "Tell me everything and don't cut out any details, Malia." Yeah, she's definitely mad. I didn't have a choice but to tell her, so I did." My new friends got into a fight with the popular kids, but it's because one of the girls was bothering us. We were just minding our business. So then her boyfriend came bothering us too. He said something triggering to Theo, and Theo punched him in the face. Kira was in the middle of that fight, and I took the hit for her. "I said, gasping for air. Wow, that took a lot to say. My mom came to my side, checking my head, and rubbed it softly. All she said was we were going to talk about it more once my father gets here.
A few minutes later, I was on my bed suffering from this bad headache. I don't regret pushing Kira out of the way. I didn't want to see her getting hurt; she's the first female friend to actually make me feel comfortable. I don't think I can say the same for Lisa anymore. She didn't care that I was hurt; instead, she picked a fight with Kira right in front of me. Now I'm miserable!
"Malia, there's some kids in front of my door asking for you, and the only person I know is Kira," my mom shouted. Did they leave school early to see me? I got up from my spot and walked downstairs slowly. My friends all turned my way with sad expressions on their faces. The boys had some bruises on their faces, which made me frown. "You guys look a mess," I said to them, laughing. Their expressions changed when they realized I wasn't mad. "Say you, I think you got it worse than us," Leon said, making everyone smile. My attention went to Theo, who still had a sad expression. Maybe I should talk to him privately.
My mom made us some snacks to eat and basically took them for a tour around the house to be comfortable. The only one who didn't go was Theo. I'm taking this chance to talk, but he beat me to it. "I'm sorry, Lia, you got hurt because I started the fight," he said, looking down. Getting to know him, he really cares about the people he hangs around. "It's okay; Jackson is a jerk. So I really don't care, "I shrugged. He was about to say something else but hesitated. I didn't force it out of him either; it takes time to really talk to a person. "YOU GUYS HAVE A PS5" Leon yelled from the basement. Theo and I laughed from our spots. "I don't know why he's yelling; he has one at home," Theo exclaimed. I looked at him and then got up from my spot. He looked confused about where I was going but then saw alcohol and cotton balls in my hand. "Here, you and the boys can't be the only ones looking like a mess," I said, handing him the items.
The action made Theo eyes softened looking at the girl with so much gratefulness.
