Malia was trying to distract herself from the looks that Lisa's friends were giving them. No one else noticed the looks but she did. It was pretty imitating her. At this point she wanted to leave the table. Malia wasn't ready to be judged again.
Malia headed over to the counter catching the attention of Jesse. "Jess, can I get a vanilla milkshake please?" she said in a low voice. Malia never gets a regular milkshake unless she wants something to calm her down. Jesse quickly nodded her head and went to make her one. "Good to see you here Lia" Lisa interrupted. Malia turned her head to see Lisa with cross arms. 'Now she wants to speak to me' Malia thought to herself.
On the other side of the room, Theo looked over at Jackson and his friends staring at Malia and Lisa's interaction. The feeling of a set up came to his mind once he saw them laughing and whispering. As his focus went to Malia, making sure nothing
"Come on lia, don't give me the cold shoulder." Lisa confronted. Malia didn't know what to say to the girl at this point. She hasn't spoken to her for 10 days, only to see her hanging out with her friends. "10 days Lisa, you haven't spoken to me. I was injured" Malia complained she sure was pissed that her friend didn't visit her once. She knows what she did was wrong. "I know but I had better things to do," she answered. The response made Malia feel like a knife went in her back just now. "What do you mean better things Lisa?" she asked the girl. Lisa huffed under breath and looked straight at the girl. "I mean I was hanging out with Janice and the girls. I guess I lost track of time" she explained. Malia didn't care to hear anything else from the girl, so she got up and walked out of the diner.

Lisa stared at the empty seat and didn't know if she should follow Malia or not. She looked over to her friends but saw Theo looking right at her. A moment to spare, he got up and looked for Malia outside. He didn't see Malia nowhere in sight, he didn't know the girl really well to know her spots but he damn sure was going to look for her.
The only place he thought of was the unknown lake no one knows about except for them. He quickly got there and saw Malia sitting down on the group looking straight at the moon. "Hey" he gently said, not wanting to scare the girl. Malia looked up at him and half smiled. "How did you know I was here?" she said to him. "I come here too when I'm feeling a bit down," he replied. Malia had no idea what she was feeling actually, whether to be mad or be sad because she's losing a first friendship. She only wanted to cry at this moment. She could think about the moments Lisa and her shared together.
"Hey, have you ever tried to fit in with anyone else in the school?" she asked. Theo turned to her and said no, "You don't have to fit in, just be yourself" he spoke. Malia knows a lot about being herself after all it does nothing but makes her feel odd. "I know that but maybe if i was different, Lisa wouldn't be ashamed to be friends with me." she honestly said. Theo didn't like the words that came out of Malia's mouth. It only reminded him of his old friend Brian. "I mean it's okay to be different, it's better than being normal" he spoke in comfort. Malia looked at him for a split second and replied with a "trust me i know". It only made Theo smile effortlessly.
The two of them enjoyed the moonlight that was shining on them. No one said a word but kept quiet feeling the cool breeze brushing upon their skin.
Narrative Pov
Back at the diner, Kira was looking around for Malia and Theo wondering where the two went. "Hey guys where's Lia and Theo?" She asked. The rest of them were wondering the same thing except for Leon who was knocked out from the food he ate. "I think Malia left, I saw her and Lisa talking about something. Malia looked sad" Ashley confirmed. After she was done explaining Kira looked over at Lisa, She doesn't know how Malia puts up with someone that's treating her like crap.
Kira decided to call Malia hoping she would answer or be somewhere safe. Only for the girl to be left on voicemail. She knows Lia keeps her phone on 'do not disturb' most of the time but this isn't a good time to do so. She called Theo and he answered saying he was taking her back home. 'Was the conversation with Lisa that bad?' she thought.
"Guys, we're leaving. Wake Leon up, "Kira told them.
