The next day, the atmosphere in Taehyung's class was tense. The students sat in their seats, notebooks open, waiting for the lecture to begin. Word had spread about how Professor Kim had been pranked, and everyone was curious to see how he would react. Y/N, Jungkook, and Jimin sat in their usual spots at the back, trying to keep straight faces.
Taehyung entered the room, his expression unreadable as always. His eyes scanned the classroom, lingering for a moment longer on Y/N and her group. She shifted slightly in her seat, but didn't break eye contact, a small smirk playing on her lips.
Without saying a word, Taehyung placed his materials on the desk. He casually glanced at the board, where he'd already cleaned up yesterday's mess, and checked his desk drawer. The notes were gone-he'd clearly found every single one they'd hidden. His face betrayed nothing as he turned back to the class.
"Good morning," he said, his voice smooth but with a hint of something underneath. "Before we begin today's lesson, I'd like to address something."
The room went still. Every student sat up a little straighter, especially Y/N, Jungkook, and Jimin. They exchanged quick glances, bracing themselves.
Taehyung continued, stepping away from the desk to walk slowly in front of the class, his hands clasped behind his back. "As some of you might have heard, there was a... disturbance in this room yesterday." His eyes swept over the class, but they rested briefly on Y/N.
She felt a flicker of unease. He knows. He has to know.
"A few items in my classroom were misplaced, and some interesting messages were left for me," he said, his voice calm, almost too calm. "I won't name names, of course, since I don't have proof." His gaze flicked toward Y/N again, this time with a slight smirk of his own. "But I do have an idea of who might be responsible."
Jungkook shifted uncomfortably in his seat, but Y/N remained still, her heart beating a little faster. She met Taehyung's gaze defiantly, refusing to look away.
Taehyung raised an eyebrow at her before continuing, "To the individuals involved, I'd like to say this: If you have enough energy to create mischief, I'm sure you can redirect that energy toward something more productive, like today's lesson."
The tension in the room thickened as Taehyung turned toward the board, casually writing down the day's topic without another word. The class was silent, not daring to speak or even breathe too loudly.
Y/N clenched her fists under the desk, her rebellious streak flaring up again. He was too calm, too composed. She had expected him to be frustrated, maybe even flustered, but instead, he'd turned the tables on them, maintaining control.
As Taehyung launched into his lecture, it was clear that the incident hadn't shaken him at all. If anything, he seemed more confident, more in control. He asked questions with an edge of sharpness, called on students with precision, and when his gaze finally landed on Y/N during one of his questions, she knew it wasn't random.
"Miss Y/N," he said, his voice like silk but laced with challenge. "Would you care to explain the principle I just discussed?"
Y/N froze for a second, taken off guard. She hadn't been paying attention-her mind was still on the prank and the way Taehyung had handled it. Jungkook nudged her, whispering a hint in her ear, but it was too late. Taehyung's eyes were on her, waiting.
Y/N took a breath, gathering whatever knowledge she could from the fragments of the lecture she had caught. "Uh... something about the law of diminishing returns?" she guessed, her voice less confident than usual.
