Y/N reluctantly sifted through her wardrobe, eyeing the neatly folded dresses her mom had insisted she wear. She pulled out a simple, yet elegant, white dress with floral embroidery. *Might as well look decent, even if this whole thing is a joke,* she thought.
As she slipped into the dress, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. It was rare for her to wear anything this feminine, and for a moment, she almost didn't recognize the girl staring back. She smoothed out the fabric, tying her hair up in a loose bun, not putting in too much effort but just enough to get her mom off her back.
Satisfied with her minimal effort, Y/N walked downstairs where Y/M was busy setting up refreshments in the living room. Her father, Y/D, sat casually on the couch, clearly more relaxed about the upcoming visit than Y/M.
Y/D looked up as Y/N entered the room, a grin spreading across his face. "Well, well, you clean up nicely. I almost didn't recognize you, kiddo."
Y/N rolled her eyes, plopping down on the armchair across from him. "Don't get used to it."
Y/M entered the room, carrying a tray of snacks, and smiled at Y/N. "See? You look beautiful when you try."
Y/N shrugged, her face indifferent. "Yeah, whatever. Let's just get this over with."
As if on cue, the doorbell rang, echoing through the house. Y/N's heart skipped a beat, though she quickly shook off the feeling. *Why am I nervous? This is ridiculous,* she thought.
Y/M rushed to the door, taking a deep breath before opening it. "Welcome, welcome!" she greeted warmly as T/M (Taehyung's mom) and T/D (Taehyung's dad) stepped inside, both smiling graciously.
T/M looked elegant in a navy-blue dress, her smile kind and welcoming, while T/D had a strong, quiet presence, his posture straight and dignified. They were both clearly well-off but carried themselves with a warmth that immediately put Y/M at ease.
"It's so nice to finally meet you," Y/M said as she led them into the living room. "Please, have a seat."
As they settled in, T/M's eyes found Y/N, and her face lit up. "You must be Y/N," she said, her voice soft but filled with admiration. "You look lovely."
Y/N forced a polite smile, feeling the weight of all the eyes on her. "Thank you," she muttered, feeling a little out of place in the formal setting.
"We've heard so much about you," T/M continued, "and we're very excited to introduce you to our son."
Y/N's curiosity piqued again. *This is it,* she thought. *Time to meet this so-called breathtaking professor.*
Just as the thought crossed her mind, there was a knock at the door. Y/M quickly excused herself to open it, and Y/N's eyes followed, her curiosity winning over her reluctance.
When the door opened, in walked Taehyung.
As soon as Y/N turned and spotted Kim Taehyung across the crowded hall, time seemed to stand still. Her heart raced as she locked eyes with him, both of them momentarily frozen in disbelief. Taehyung's mouth parted slightly in shock, his expressive eyes widening as he recognized her. Y/N felt a rush of emotions swirl within her-excitement, confusion, and a hint of fear. They stood there, surrounded by laughter and conversation, yet in that moment, it felt as if they were the only two people in the world, grappling with the unexpected reality of seeing each other outside the classroom. The air crackled with unspoken questions, and neither of them knew how to bridge the distance between their worlds.
"It's so nice to finally meet your professor, Y/N!" her mother exclaimed, shaking Taehyung's hand enthusiastically. Taehyung responded with a polite smile, but Y/N could see the slight unease in his eyes.
As their parents exchanged pleasantries about work and college life, Y/N and Taehyung exchanged hesitant glances, each silently acknowledging the unexpected situation. Finally, her father clapped his hands together.
"You two should talk privately for a moment. I think it's important for you to get to know each other better,"
he suggested, a knowing look in his eyes. Y/N felt her stomach twist at the implication, but before she could protest, her mother nodded in agreement, gently guiding them away from the crowd.
