AND THEN HE SAID
he's actually my brother who I haven't seen in more than 10 years, while I mourned thinking that he died with my mom who is also miraculously back and wishing to kill me, or take my abilities or whatever." Selene finished her quick talking with a deep breath and an exhale, while Bella sat behind the wheel, both of them driving to check on Jacob after he was seriously hurt during the battle with newborns.

"Oh, wow." Bella stuttered out. She knew Garcia family had crazy history, but this was just beyond...everything.  "I mean, how could he hide himself from me? All this time, Todo este maldito tiemp!"
[All this damn time!]

"Okay, let's just keep our conversations in one language." Bella glanced to her and back on the road as Selene nodded, resting her elbow against the window and her head on her fist. "I'm sorry, i'm just...this is so frustrating." Selene states, shaking her head in disbelief. Bella parked in front of the house and looked to her best friend who did the same, "I can't tell you everything's going to be fine, because this is something you need to solve with him. Right now, let's go check on Jacob." Bella says and Selene simply nods before the two exit the vehicle.

The two girls joined the pack, just as Carlisle walked out of the house and explained Jacob's current condition and earned appreciation from Billy. Carlisle faced the two girls and shared a glance with Selene, "Are you okay?"

"Mhm." Selene nods, her head lowered and glance focused on the dirt below her feet with hands in her pockets. Carlisle sighs, averting his glance over to Bella. "He's asking for you." He says and leaves.

Bella glances to everyone and then to Selene who nudges her lightly, "Go." She says with what sounded like a whisper. Bella nods and walks inside, leaving Selene outside with the pack. Sam looks down to Billy and motions over to Selene as the man nods in approval. "Selene,"

Selene lifts her head at the call of her name and sees Sam stepping over to her, "Walk with me." He says and walks past her as Selene follows.

"How are you doing?" Sam asks, the two entering the woods, far away from the rest of the pack not to hear their conversation. The question caught Selene off guard as her lips parted, but she quickly waved him off with a nod of her head. "I-I'm fine."

Sam sighs, "I know you're not. I know you're strong, mentally and physically, but after today...You don't have to hide your emotions, at least not from me." He says and steps in front of her. With the expressions he wore, Selene knew he had heard the conversation with Carlos and Alexander on the battle field.

And also with Carlisle informing him of Maya's and Carlos' return.

"Carlisle told you, didn't he?" She asks, averting her glance to the trees around them, embarrassed to meet his eyes. Sam nods, not wishing to hide anything from the girl. "Listen, your mom—"

"Don't. She's not my mom. No mothers act like how she's been acting when I was a child." Selene snapped, but quickly apologised when she realised how she reacted. Sam understood, she knew how she felt and this was affecting her feelings.

"I knew Maya a long time ago," Sam reveals, bringing Selene's attention and for her to glance towards him. "She was one of my best friends in high school. She knew my secret, and I knew hers. When I heard about Paul seeing a siren and then imprinting on her, it almost made me go into shock if i'm honest." Sam says with a small chuckle, remembering the old times. "Maya having a daughter. And a son. She always talked about having children and how she wanted to be the mother of the year, but hearing how you describe her...it's like the Maya Hart I knew, died. So, tell me, Sel, what was she like to you?"
