Due to the news that Ace was chasing Kurohige, the man who gave Shanks the scar on his eye, he and Kanae thought it was not a good idea, so they decided to warn Shirohige, who was now Ace's captain, how dangerous it could be for the two to fight, as Ace wouldn't stand a chance now that Kurohige had obtained the Yami Yami no Mi. They both lovers wrote a letter to send it to Shirohige.

"I remember when Ace became a son to Newgate," Kanae commented with Shanks as they prepared the letter, "Even my own son made it, good thing I didn't tell him the truth, it's so weird that he considers my father as his and considers me as a mother," she laughed at the situation. "At this point we are more siblings than mother and son."

Shanks just listened to her talk, as he knew Kanae was in pain, she was shedding tears of worry for her son, so he hugged her. When they finished the letter, they entrusted it to a messenger to get it to Shirohige. After several days, Rockstar called them, apparently, the letter plan failed.

"That old man hasn't changed a bit!" Shanks laughed.

"I told you it wouldn't work," Kanae reminded him and Shanks continued laughing.

"This is no laughing matter, chief!" Rockstar complained, but Shanks continued to laugh even louder.

"My father may be old-fashioned, but he needs more than that to listen to us, you're lucky you came out unscathed, Rockstar."

"Give me a little more time, I've never been humiliated like that before!" asked Rockstar.

"Hey, hey, what are you going to do? Leave it," said Shanks, changing his tone.

"Come back now," added Kanae.

"But my honor...!" Rockstar continued.

"Your life is more important than honor," interrupted Shanks and hung up the Den Den Mushi.

"So, what are we going to do, chief?" asked Lucky.

"We're going, get the ship ready!" he announced.

Kanae was excited, she was looking forward to seeing her father face to face again.

"To see Shirohige?" Beckman asked.

"Yes, that's right."

"Do you think the government won't do anything about it?"

"I'm not worried about that, the government may not sit still, but if they interfere, we won't sit idly by."

The Akagami Pirates were excited.

"Guys, we're going into battle!" Lucky announced.

"Yes!" confirmed Shanks and headed for the ship.

"I'll do my best sake, this will be fun," Kanae warned.

They set off to visit Shirohige in person. The navy interfered with the Akagami Pirates to prevent them from making contact, but they were easily defeated.

"Shanks?" asked one of Shirohige Pirates.

"Pops, pops! Akagami wants to meet with you and he's coming with his lover," warned another.

"They are coming," said Jozu, one of the commanders.

"Well, let them," said Shirohige as he drank sake. "I hope these guys brought some good sake."
