You wake up to the sound of something dinging in your ear—definitely not the kind of alarm you've ever set before. When you sit up, confused and groggy, there's a strange blue window hovering in front of your face, almost like Jinwoo's system notifications. Your heart skips a beat.
...
...
"Huh?... WHAT!!"
You yell in shock before sitting up, the screen then adjusted itself so it was now facing upward. You sit there for a moment before realizing that there's some text on the screen to be read.
"Oh right... Ok let's see..."
[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION]
[Tutorial completed. Welcome, Player]
[Daily Quest: Cooking Prep and Food Creation
Tasks: Prepare 5 meals. Use ingredients that boost fatigue recovery]
Your eyes widen as the details sink in. Cooking Prep? Food Creation? What kind of quest was this? You reach out to swipe at the screen, hoping it'll vanish, but the message persists, but it does seem to respond to touch. It's not until you see the words "fatigue recovery" that it really hits you. At least you're not being asked to run ten kilometers or do push-ups like in Jinwoo's system.
"Oh, thank god, that would've actually killed me," you mutter under your breath, slumping in relief.
As the initial panic fades, your mind shifts into gear. Why would you have a system? And why now? You think back to everything—being isekai'd into the world of Solo Leveling, getting an apartment near Jinwoo and his family, landing a cozy bakery job. It had all been oddly convenient, but now this system notification confirms it: you're not here by accident.
You groan, rubbing your temples. "So, I've been isekai'd into Solo Leveling for a reason, huh? From what I have seen so far it isn't for getting stronger but for making food."
The system interrupts your musings with another ping.
[Daily Quest: Time to Bake!]
[Complete today's task by experimenting with food preparation. The nature of the ingredients and your intention will influence the outcome of your dishes!]
"Intention? What, like cooking with love or something?" you mutter. You can't help but feel a little skeptical, but curiosity gets the better of you.
Deciding to test it out, you head to the kitchen and begin preparing various ingredients. As you cook, you keep your thoughts focused—wishing for healing when making bread, hoping for energy boosts when preparing soup. To your shock, the food responds. The loaf of bread starts to emit a faint green glow, almost as if it's brimming with vitality, and the soup flickers with tiny sparks of light.
"Okay, this is wild," you mutter, staring at the countertop. It's covered in everything from energy-boosting pastries to full-on fatigue-reducing meals. Even the ingredients seem to have special properties. Mint gives off a cooling effect, and red chili paste, when added to stir-fry, radiates heat, suggesting a connection to fire resistance. A quick glance from the system confirms it.
You step back, surveying your handiwork. You've made way too much food, more than you could possibly eat in a week.
"I've completely cleared out my fridge and pantry..." You sigh, overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of food you've prepared. "What am I supposed to do with all this?"
As if on cue, another system notification appears.
