The orphanage

It was sunny as the birds chirped outside one of the windows of the orphanage. All the other kids were running around or playing with the donated toys. The caretakers were talking to some potential adopters. Some could also be seen playing or talking to the kids. You were in a corner with a sweater and some jeans as well as old dirty socks. You were one of the shy kids inside the orphanage, you would try to bite anyone who came near you. Many of the caretakers tried to move you out of the corner, but you refused. You felt that this corner was your safe place where no one could hurt you or even touch you.

You snuck over to the closest window near your safe corner. You looked out to see cars driving by on the road. People walked by the orphanage on the rough concrete sidewalks. Birds flew to their nests and over the sidewalk bushes, trees, and flowers. Many kids with his/her parents walked by and pointed to colorful ads on the busy streets. Looking at these happy kids and their parents made you feel sad about how you were forced to live in this hell of a place. Sure some of the coworkers were nice, but the food was horrible. You wonder how these kids can even eat the food they give you. You were just about to crawl back to your corner when you saw a skeleton looking in the window directly at you. He had black endless sockets and he was wearing a blue-gray jacket with a tan fluffy hood. He smirked at you through the window and then disappeared from your view. You went back to your corner and heard the door open with a ding (like in a store). You saw the same skeleton walk into the orphanage. Some of the caretakers were whispering about the strange skeleton. It was quite normal for a human and monster couple to walk in as well as other regular human couples, but never a lone monster.

One of the caretakers walked up to him a little scared and sputtered out, " H-hello sir h-how can I help y-you?"

"I'm looking for a kid," Blade replied calmly.

The caretaker (whose name was Sara) showed Blade around. Most of the kids were afraid of him, but he didn't really mind. He was a scary skeleton with black sockets that had no eyelights. Sara later left Blade to look at the kids. He walked close to you in your corner and just smiled at you like he did in the window. You crept back slightly trying to keep your distance from the unusual skeleton.

"What's your name?" he asked trying to sound friendly.

"I'm (Y/N)," you replied eyeing him suspiciously.

"No need to be scared. You can call me Blade," he chirped with a smile.

He was reaching his hand out to pat your head, or so you thought when he got up and went to Sara. Sara and Blade talked awhile before they went into a room. You sighed with relief that the skeleton was gone.

After what felt like hours your eyes slowly started to close. You slide down into your corner and fall half asleep. You were so tired that you didn't notice you were being picked up by the same skeleton, Blade. You snuggled your head deeper into the soft, fluffy warm jacket. You heard a little snicker, but you decided to ignore it. You felt yourself being shifted into a different place before everything went black.
