Daniel finally woke up. Slowly, he opened his eyes. He was in a large room. Shelves lined with books stretched along the walls, strange lights cast an eerie glow, and the room was filled with odd, phosphorescent potions. Moving carefully due to the lingering pain, he managed to get out of bed. Daniel took a better look around, observing the peculiar surroundings. That's when his rescuer entered the room, likely drawn by the sound of Daniel stirring—or so the rescuer thought. Startled, Daniel instinctively took a step back as the man approached. The stranger stopped and spoke in a calm tone, trying to reassure him.

Rescuer: Ah, you're awake! That's good news. No need to be afraid...I'm not going to hurt you.

Daniel narrowed his eyes, suspicious but curious. He wasn't sure who this man was, though something about him seemed... otherworldly. After a moment, Daniel broke the silence.

DanielHold up... Where the hell am I? And, uh, who even are you?

The Wizard tilted his head slightly, as if amused by Daniel's bluntness.

Wizard: Most people just call me 'Wizard.' And as for where you are, this is my home. You'll stay here until you've fully recovered.

Daniel's expression softened slightly, but the questions kept coming.

Daniel: Okay, but... what happened to me?

Wizard: Well, that depends. What do you remember?

Daniel: Uh... there was this assassin guy. He threw a dagger at me, and... after that? It's kind of a blur.

Wizard: And then you fainted.

Daniel: Yeah, I guess that was it. So, wait...are you the one who saved me?

Wizard: I am. That assassin you mentioned is highly dangerous. He's notorious for targeting people in this city, especially nobles. Though, every now and then, he'll set his sights on farmers or travelers. My goal is to protect as many people as I can from his blade.

Daniel: So, he's a pro, huh?

The Wizard nodded solemnly.

Wizard: Indeed. Do you know why he came after you? Are you wealthy or connected to someone powerful?

Daniel scoffed and shook his head.

Daniel: Not really, I'm hunting him, and he's hunting me.

The Wizard's eyes widened slightly in surprise. It wasn't every day someone openly declared they were chasing a trained assassin.

Daniel: Let's just say it's complicated. One of us has to take the other out. That's how it is.
