Rafe looked up as Shoupe walked into the room, the older man's presence breaking his focus from the sleeping boy in the bed. He nodded silently, his eyes still on Jimmy for a moment before turning to look at Shoupe as he stayed quiet, waiting for the man to speak, his thoughts still half on the boy in the bed.
Rafe let out a soft sigh, his gaze shifting from the boy to Shoupe before speaking, "How bad is it?" he asked, his voice a mixture of concern and resignation as he ran a hand over his face, his exhaustion and stress evident, "With you and Peterkin, the police, I mean" he clarified, his mind already running through the possible consequences of the event on the roof.
Shoupe let out a breath, "The original plan was to leave you both in a cell overnight and have your father bail you out while Jimmy stayed for a talk" Shoupe admitted making Rafe feel a pang of understanding and irritation at the explanation, the mention of his father adding to his frustration, "And now?" he asked, his voice still gruff and weary making Shoupe sigh, "Your father's on his way here"
Rafe's eyes widened at the news, his frustration and exhaustion instantly replaced by stress and annoyance, "You've got to be kidding me" he said, his voice a mixture of grumbling and tiredness. Shoupe looked at him empathetically, "You're nineteen, Rafe. But he's still your father and therefore you're his responsibility, whether you like it or not. Jimmy is a different case however."
