An anguishing bell sounded through the Legion barracks waking them up with pain. Captain paced through the center of the barracks holding the megaphone responsible for their agony.
"Wake up Legion knights !" He boomed through it
"Make it stop..." Axel drawled covering his ears with his pillow
Captain complied and turned it off but continued to scream through it.
"Get up, get up, get up, we have a hike ahead of us." He told
"It's 4am!" Dayne whined from his position under his blankets
"Exactly, we're late. I give you all 30 minutes to freshen up and be out and lined up." He declared, he raised his palm as the Legion started groaning and complaining at his demand. "If I come back here and find anyone still in bed, you don't even want to know what I'll do to you, so get going."
Saying that he strode out, leaving a wake of grumbling protests as the others dragged themselves out of bed. Laura sprung out of bed and ran to the nearest bathroom at her front with her clothes, toiletries and towel in hand, she entered and locked the door.
A girl needs her privacy
The bathroom was sleek and spacious. Ten showers and sinks lined the walls, beneath a sprawling bronze-rimmed mirror. She started a shower, brushing her teeth while arranging soaps, oils and creams beside the sink.
"Laura there's literally ten showers in there, you cannot hog the entire bathroom." Theo raged, banging on the door.
"Yeah as if I'd let you watch me shower, perv!" Laura shot back, muffled by the toothbrush
Seven minutes later, Laura emerged from the bathroom with her things in hand allowing a grouchy Theo and nine others to enter.
"She better not have finished the hot water," he mumbled probably thinking she wouldn't hear, which she did.
She scoffed turning to him "After hearing that tone, I hope I did." She sneered
"People are so grumpy in the morning," Matthew remarked with distaste
He must have already showered judging from his freshly gelled hair and sweats. He sat cross legged on his bed while flipping through a book.
"Tell me about it, he's acting like that's the only bathroom in the barrack." She said, hanging her towel on the bunk "He should start getting used to it, cuz that's how it'll be till he graduates." She muttered to herself.
She rummaged through her shelf in the closet and pulled out her trusty pouch that held her camera and recorder. Matthew jumped down, and the two of them joined a few of the Legion outside. She wore the Legion's grey hoodie, a brown top inside it with navy tights, sneakers and strapped her pouch around her waist, while Matthew wore a red polyester running shirt, black leggings and red knee long shorts over it.
Outside, amidst the crowd, Andreas stood in a secluded corner, performing dynamic stretches. As much as he was in the Legion, Laura hadn't expected him to join the hike. His eyes lifted to her, and frowned, misinterpreting her gaze for staring. Her eyes lingered on him briefly before turning to Matthew.
Twenty minutes passed when a pissed off Captain barged into the barracks, hundreds of boys flooded out in fear and lined up before Commander.
"Is this everyone ?" Commander asked
Captain came out and aggressively shut the door "yes."
The Legion hills were high and steep, there were six of them in total differing in height. The one they were heading to was the highest and largest one that had a flat wide top where their training would take place.
