A loud bell rang indicating the start of the next match. A boy with golden brown hair, announced as Xander, kneed the other in the stomach with great speed and pounded his fist on his back, his opponent stumbled to the floor clearly feeling the pain. He had orange hair that was unnecessary damp and was announced as Axel.
Axel picked himself up and swiftly dodged a punch from Xander that was bound to break his nose, he instead grabbed Xander's wrist pulled it roughly and elbowed the poor boy on the forehead.

Laura carefully observed their match, like she had for the past 52 matches. She could easily identify the strengths and weaknesses of the two.
Xander is swift and quick and overwhelms his opponent with a row of attacks to not give them an opportunity to strike, but his weakness is he pays very little attention to his opponent and is too focused on finishing him off at once. Whereas Axel does pay alot of attention to his opponent to an extent that he seems to detect their next move but his weakness is he doesn't give enough attacks.
Seconds later the bell rang again indicating the end of the match, where Axel was practically smoothing Xander's face on the ground with his foot.

"And the winner of this round, Axel Lennon. Opponent Xander is herby eliminated " Captain declared "Next partners take your place "

Cameron walked up to Laura and stood beside her without saying a word. She got the unspoken message, she'd watched enough of the matches to know what's ahead of her. They nodded at each other before stepping into the ring. Captain finished noting down something before looking down at them and raised a brow seeing Laura.

"Your names future Knights " he asked

"Cameron Raile "

"Laura Rasper "

He nodded as he noted it down on his clipboard. He gave Laura a long look, she returned the look with an equally blank expression.

"Are you ready to start ? " Captain asked, he turned from Laura to Cameron and back

"We're ready " Cameron answered

He glared daggers at her , his eyes scanned her from head to toe with a light scoff. She couldn't care less, he didn't look like much either. From the matches she'd thoroughly inspected, even those who looked weak and incapable surprised her with how skilled they were. She wasn't gonna underestimate him but she definitely wasn't gonna second guess herself either. She inspected him, noticed all his movements, his back was slightly slouched and he seemed relaxed...eased even. He thought this was gonna be easy.

"Good luck baby girl " he said lowly in a mocking tone

"I don't need luck - I have skill " she shot back

Cameron simply snorted

The bell rang and Cameron sprinted into action, lunging at her with a punch intended for her stomach. She effortlessly dodged and strolled behind him.

She worked her whole life to get here. She was gonna enjoy this.

He turned and tried to front kick her, key word: tried. Laura caught his leg and twisted it backwards, elbowing his kneecap, a pained whine left his lips. She threw him forward where he cradled his knee then roundhouse kicked him in the jaw and would've stomped on his stomach if he didn't role out the way. She grinned inwardly at the groans and coughs of pain from Cameron and the stunned murmurs from the audience.
She heard light footsteps, very light, she ducked and Cameron flew over her thudding on the ground. She swung her head to the side barely missing Cameron's dirty boot

"30 seconds" Captain hollered

Laura grabbed Cameron's neck and mercilessly yanked it back, he shrieked, trying to break free from her hold but to no avail. A smile threatened to sprout on her face remembering the time grandma Bailey made her lap around the training field 50 times every week with bags and bags of bricks. Guess it paid off.
