-Jaime POV-
We made it home an hour earlier than expected and the bus driver took me to my place first, probably giving the guy's time to talk about me once I leave.
I wheeled my luggage to the front door and opened it as quietly as I could so I wouldn't wake Arianna. As soon as I shut the door behind me I hear small running noises descend the stairs, thinking it was Arianna I turned towards the staircase and expected to see her only to be met by a very happy Max jumping on my legs with small whines.
"Hey there buddy." I whisper picking him up and cradling his growing body in my arms.
"Can't carry you for much longer Max, you're getting to big." I tell him getting a lick to the face as a response.
I leave my suitcases by the door and walk up the stairs and to the bedroom seeing Arianna fast asleep on the bed, I quietly get changed into something a bit more comfortable then slide into the bed with her.
I slip my arm around her body pulling her closely to my chest, she moves a bit but stays asleep, I burry my nose into her hair and take in her scent getting familiarized with it instantly then I begin to place butterfly kisses along the back of her shoulder.
Arianna jolts from her sleep and turns to me quickly, her eyes as big as the moon and brighter than any star I've seen.
"Oh my gosh you're home!" She shouts throwing her arms around me.
"Yes" I chuckle, concealing my face into her neck.
"I thought you were getting home later, I set my alarm and everything."
"No we took a shortcut through Arizona that got us here faster." I explain.
"I don't care how you got here I'm just glad you're home already." She says pulling me into another hug.
"I'm glad to be here too, I've missed you so much." I admit placing my lips gently on her lips for the first time in what feels like forever.
"Are you tired?" She asks stroking my cheek softly lighting a fire inside of me.
"A bit." I reply as I feel my eyes get heavy.
"Well let's get some rest and wake up later." She suggests.
I nod in agreement then place one more kiss on her lips before situating ourselves in a comfortable sleeping position, falling asleep almost instantly.
The cold feeling of emptiness woke me up from my sleep; I looked to my side and saw the spot next to me empty and indeed very cold.
I jolt up from the bed and rethink everything that happened, if you don't know what I mean let me explain.
It was one of those sleeps that when you wake up you don't know if everything you lived was just a dream, or you forgot what's been going on like you've slept for years and don't have a clue what happened in the real world.
That's the kind of sleep I had, and it didn't help that I dreamt about the Jessica incident and telling Arianna only for her to leave me.
I rip off the covers and walk into the closet, my heart feeling relieved once I saw all her clothes still hanging on hangers.
"Get it together Hime." I mutter to myself as I walk out of the closet and over to my dresser drawers grabbing some clean shorts and a t-shirt.
I descend down the stairs and see Arianna standing over the stove stirring something in a pan. I walk behind her and wrap my arms around her torso, startling her at first but then she relaxes seconds after.
