Early 1st moon of 121 AC

It was midday when Princess Laenys managed to slip away from her Septa after hearing whispers of her father going to fight in a war. She debated going to her mother's apartments but quickly dismissed the thought since her mother would likely be in a small council meeting. She eventually decided to seek out Ser Harwin in the training yard.

Whilst walking across the keep to reach the training yards she passed Prince Aemond and his mother's sworn shield, Ser Criston, whispering. She assumed they were whispering about her family by the way they looked at her, which slightly angered her. She knew of the long-lasting hatred the Queen and her sworn shield held for her mother, though she had yet to find out why.

When she arrived at the training yard, she spotted Ser Harwin speaking with two young squires. He was instructing them on how to fix their stances. Not wanting to interrupt him, she decided to go to her usual hiding spot until he was finished.

After hiding for several minutes, he looked over and noticed her. He shook his head and slightly laughed, "All right, lads that's enough for today. We can pick up again on the morrow." The boys breathed a sigh of relief and quickly left.

Ser Harwin walked over to Laenys and crouched down, "What brings you here today, Princess? Did you get bored of your lessons already?"

"No, Ser. Well, yes, but I heard that father is to go to war," said the young princess.

She noticed the slight surprise cross his face, but he quickly covered it up. He stood up and reached a hand out to help her out from under an abandoned weapons table against the wall. Once she was standing, she dusted the dirt off of her dress.

He began guiding her toward the entrance of the Keep, "I take it that you're worried about him, but I can assure you that your father is a strong man. Should he go to war, he'll return victorious."

Laenys shakes her head, "How do you know that? What if something bad happens?"

"This wouldn't be the first time your father has gone to war. He has Seasmoke to protect him just as he did before. And just because people think he'll go doesn't mean he will," Ser Harwin smiles at her gently, "Now how about we sneak to the kitchens and get some lemon cakes?"

The question causes the girl to smile mischievously, "Afterwards can we go to the dragon pit to see Kyrax?"

"Yes, but we'll have to find your brothers first so they can visit their dragons as well."

The pair eventually managed to get into the kitchens without being spotted but ran into the head cook, Hilda of Appleton.

"I'm going to assume you two are here to steal lemon cakes again?" the older woman questioned.

Ser Harwin smiled sheepishly and says, "How can one say no to a princess?" which causes Laenys to look at him shockingly.

"It was your idea!"

"Was it now?" he asks in faux curiosity.

Hilda looks at the two disapprovingly before walking away and shortly returning with a small tray. The tray held three lemon cakes, "This is all I'm giving you. Princess Rhaenyra told me not to give you and your brothers lemon cakes before supper."

Laenys went to object, but Ser Harwin cut in, "Thank you, Hilda. I'll make sure this remains a secret."

Ser Harwin quickly wishes the woman farewell and escorts the princess out of the kitchens. He takes a lemon cake off of the tray and gives the other two to the young girl.

"Thank you, Ser." She went to eat one, but her uncle Aegon bumps into her which causes her to drop one of the lemon cakes.

Aegon looked around confused for a moment before looking down toward his niece, "Oh sorry dear niece, I didn't notice you," he says with a grin.
