We are ready for battle, I look to my left, there is J who gives me a small smile before focusing in front of us. We are in deep shit.
"What the hell," J whispers as hundreds and hundreds of creatures that I don't even know how to identify rush towards the barrier.
Suicidal monsters.
Good.
Some manage to get past the barrier and we start shooting. I don't miss a single one, but they don't die right away. One shot isn't enough to kill them. I try to shoot directly at the heart, but it's not enough.
"Their weak point is their eyes," I tell J.
"On my signal, the barrier will open," the king informs us.
We get ready and the king stands in front. "Wakanda forever," he shouts. And the real battle begins.
I run and notice that about ten meters of the barrier has disappeared. I run faster with J, Steve and the king at my side.
I shoot until we're too close, then I take out two daggers and start slashing the monsters.
My heart is beating fast and to calm myself I pretend they're punching bags or Hydra guards. At least that makes the slashing more fun and liberating.
I look around, but I don't see anyone, they're all covered in monsters trying to tear them apart. I can't even see J. I said I wouldn't do it. That I wouldn't call on the shadows anymore, because afterwards I feel really bad and according to Shuri I might even die.
I duck and put my hands on the ground. I sense a monster approaching and I throw a dagger straight into its right eye.
I focus.
The veil of shadows makes a peaceful silence fall over my mind. The noises soften. I only hear my breathing, calm.
I open my eyes, black, and stand up along with a small army of me.
I take a deep breath "Go," I mutter.
I don't notice the arrival of a thunder guy, but I feel the tingle of electricity.
I see everything. My clones are everywhere. They are like me, unreachable and invisible like shadows, only they can't die. I can.
I feel a spasm, but I fight it and stand on shaking legs. The monsters are dying. Fast.
Mechanical wheels emerge from the ground and I let all the clones dissipate. I feel a ringing in my ears and my blood thick in my veins. In one swift move I approach the wheels and let the shadows envelop them. I scream in pain as I throw them toward the monster ships. I fall to my knees and cough. It's blood.
I feel a monster approaching, but I can't react.
A gentle hand rests on my back "Is everything okay?" Wanda asks.
I nod and hide my bloody hand.
I feel Wanda flinch and then watch her fly away. The creature general approaches her.
"You'll die alone, like him," she says.
I pull out a dagger and throw it at her.
"She's not alone,"
She dodges easily and lunges at me. I step back and look her straight in the eyes. I raise my hands and let the shadows envelop her. The ringing in her ears silences her screams as I crush her into a ball.
