The next few weeks were a whirlwind. Emily and Nathan's relationship continued to grow, and despite their best efforts to keep it under wraps, it became harder to hide the depth of their feelings. Every glance, every touch felt like a secret shared only between them, but it wasn't long before whispers began to circulate around the office.

It wasn't just Margaret who had noticed anymore.

One day, as Emily was preparing for a meeting, she overheard two colleagues talking in the break room.

"Have you noticed how close Emily and Nathan are these days?" one of them asked, her tone laced with curiosity.

"Yeah, I've seen it too. They're always together. Think something's going on?"

Emily's stomach dropped. She quickly ducked out of sight, her heart pounding. It was only a matter of time before the rumors spread.

Emily's mind raced as she sat in her office, the words she'd overheard in the break room echoing in her head. The walls seemed to be closing in around her. She knew the day would come when people would start talking, but she hadn't been ready for it to happen so soon. What if the rumors reached Margaret, or worse, the higher-ups?

She couldn't focus, her mind tangled with fear and excitement, her body still humming from the stolen moments she and Nathan shared in secret. As much as she worried about the consequences, she couldn't deny how much she craved him. Every time they were together, it was like the rest of the world disappeared, and nothing mattered but the way his touch made her feel.

That evening, Nathan texted her: "Can I see you tonight? We need to talk."

Emily's pulse quickened as she read the message. She knew they couldn't keep going like this—something had to give. But despite her growing anxiety, the thought of seeing Nathan again made her heart race in anticipation.

She arrived at Nathan's apartment just after sunset, the city lights twinkling through the windows. Nathan greeted her at the door, his expression serious, but his eyes softened the moment they met hers.

Without a word, he pulled her into his arms, his lips pressing firmly against hers. Emily melted into the kiss, the warmth of his embrace easing the tension that had been building inside her all day. His hands slipped down to her waist, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them, and Emily's heart raced with desire.

She broke the kiss, breathless, but Nathan wasn't finished. He trailed his lips along her jaw, down the curve of her neck, leaving a trail of heat in his wake. Emily's fingers curled into his shirt, pulling him closer as her pulse quickened.

"Nathan..." she whispered, barely able to get the words out as her mind became clouded with the heat of the moment.

"I don't care what anyone thinks," he murmured against her skin, his voice husky. "I want you, Emily. No more hiding."

His words sent a shiver down her spine. She wanted that too—she wanted him. She had spent weeks holding back, trying to keep everything contained, but now, in the warmth of his apartment, with the city glowing outside the window, her restraint melted away.

Nathan's hands roamed down her back, slipping under her blouse, his fingers grazing her bare skin. Emily gasped, the sensation igniting every nerve in her body. Her breath hitched as he pulled her even closer, their bodies pressed together as his lips claimed hers again, this time slower, more deliberate.

The kiss deepened, his tongue teasing hers in a slow dance that sent waves of heat through her. Emily's fingers found their way into his hair, pulling him closer as the need between them grew. The world outside faded, and all she could feel was Nathan—the weight of his body against hers, the way his touch sent sparks down her spine.

Nathan lifted her onto the couch, his hands never leaving her, his lips trailing along her collarbone. Emily's breath came in short gasps, her body arching toward him as his touch set her skin on fire.

"Emily," he whispered, his voice rough with desire. "I don't want to stop."

Neither did she. The tension that had been building between them for weeks had finally reached its breaking point, and there was no going back now. She leaned in, her lips finding his again, and in that moment, everything else disappeared—the office, the rumors, the risks. All that mattered was Nathan.
