"Oh."

The person turned on their heels to leave the tent's door. Maeve felt the urge to explain herself, like she owed them. She didn't. Joost knew she didn't, however, he let her go.

"Grian, wait!", she shouted after him.

Joost's hands fell from their places on her hips onto his lap. He watched Evie leave him with a mimic of disappointment. As much as he understood her point, his girlfriend distancing to talk to another man hurt the blonde.

The girl speed walked behind Grian, slapping her hand on his shoulder to turn his attention towards her. A scowl broke Maeve's confidence to yell at him, for everything he had done.

"We have nothing to talk about, Maeve."

She scoffed: "Oh really? Then why did you interrupt us?"

Scanning the busy festival grounds around them, the Irish man pushed his tongue into the inside of his cheek. He was clearly bothered by what he saw between the pair and it irritated her.

"I simply wanted to talk in private, nothing more. You've moved on, it's fine", he huffed, annoyed at the situation.

"Yes, I did", Evie threw her hands up slightly,"Why do you care all of a sudden?"

His sunglasses covered his stare but she noticed Grian's obvious defeat nonetheless. Maeve stepped closer to him, giving him less opportunities to look anywhere else.

"I don't care", the singer spat.

"Yes, you do."

"No."

"Indeed."

He groaned. She raised her eyebrows in celebration of her victory.

Grian kissed his teeth: "You're impossible, Maeve."

"Well, mind telling me how?"

"I wanted to check up on you", he stated whilst inching even closer to her,"I haven't seen you in months and just because you left doesn't mean I didn't think about you."

The Irish girl was confused. All this time, she was convinced he was glad she was out of the country. Evie frowned at the man.

"Where are you going with this?", she whispered as her breath hitched in her throat.

The shifting crowds of festival attendees seemed to cease at the moment of silence. Grian hesitated to speak his mind, Evie nearly begged him to spit it out. It would be her last goal to fully let go of her past.

"I fell in love with you", Grian snapped,"And I'm sorry for not showing you how I felt. Everyone kept saying I shouldn't date someone who works for me."

Evie gaped, taken aback by his words.

"I couldn't help it. You are so... kind and talented. By far, you are the most beautiful woman I have ever met. I should've told you."

Her heart skipped a beat, but not out of empathy for him, more out of fear. She had fallen for his love bombs before. Maeve despised the feeling of impotence.

She shook her head frantically, taking slow steps backwards: "No. No, you don't get to do this, Grian. I waited ages for you to like me. You can't just come around and say these things because I left. Because I did for good."

"Liefje."

Maeve spun around swiftly, not sparing any time to crash into Joost's arms. He was the safest person she could be around, currently. Without more words being exchanged, the couple abandoned Grian, befuddled and confused.
