Jeroen's café hadn't changed one bit since Maeve had left. The tables were placed were they always were, the picture frames hung in the exact same spots and the menu had barely been updated. It felt like a part of Evie had stayed, her university student self.
Alanis and her best friend sat at the table close to the large aperture facing the canal, where they would usually be. The two never ran out of themes to discuss.
Debating if Blur or Oasis were the better 90s band, they were interrupted by Jeroen slumping into the chair opposite of them. Maeve smiled emphatically at the clearly distressed barista.
"I've never been so happy to end a shift", he sighed.
"I bet, how are you?", Evie asked, distracting him from their location.
"Great, besides the exhausting day", Jeroen rested his head on his palms, "What about you guys? Have you decided how long you'll stay in town, Evie?"
Ali answered briefly, mentioning the upcoming festival season exciting her, before turning to Maeve.
"I think I'll stay for the summer, maybe even longer. It depends on what's happening along the way. Honestly, I just need a job", she shrugged, stirring up her coffee.
Her best friend drew her eyebrows up: "You know, you can come back if you want. We miss you and I'd be very thankful to not be the only social manager anymore."
"The others would want that?"
"Absolutely! I don't know about Joost... but the rest for sure", the Spanish woman assured Maeve.
"He would love it, trust me", Jeroen chuckled, "The amount of times he came in here, requiring your typical coffee order and remaining at this table for hours on end, my lord! Someone could've sworn you died or something."
Alanis snorted whilst Evie shook her head at his exaggeration. He loved to be dramatic with the way he spoke, normally appreciated by Maeve. When Joost was a key figure in the conversation, her gratitude was narrow.
"He wouldn't. Joost barely talks to me nowadays. Sometimes I could punt and say he hates me."
"Well, think about it. You'd be welcomed back with open arms", Alanis chimed in.

In Teun's studio, Aggu, Joost and the producer were assembled for final touches to their joint song. The release would follow in a few days and it was completely finished. Only minor changes could be made.
A synced notification ring echoed through the room. Both Joost and Teun's phones lit up with a message from the Albino Sports group chat.
"Yes! Oh my god, I thought she would never ask", Teun raised his voice with enthusiasm.
Aggu tilted his head: "What happened?"
"Maeve wants to return to the team for her former spot."
Joost's monotonous response caused his producer to roll his eyes to the back of his head. Teun was fed up with the blonde's unnecessarily aggressive antics.
"Bro, enough is enough. Can you stop being a dick to her? What has she ever done to you? I know your little fallout hurt you, so did it hurt Evie."
"She was the one replacing me with Grian, not the other way around-"
"I mean, you're not gay", Aggu chuckled.
