Author's Note: Like promised, I have another long chapter for you. This is a tale that I continue to unveil. This is a chapter packed with corruption and betrayal (and getting ditched by some friends). I should probably stop with the Mean Girls references heheh. Well, enjoy this cautionary tale!
I play around with my pen while waiting for my homeroom teacher. Jake is flirting with ladies as usual and winning their hearts. The usual routine of shutting up the class commences and Ms. Jones then says, "Students, we have a new classmate and she just came from Jasmine High. Please welcome Athora Thornton."
My pen drops when I see a girl with slightly dark curly coral pink hair that was tied up in a ponytail. Her acorn brown eyes shone with passion and confidence. "Hi I'm Athora as the teacher told you."
"Nobody cares!" Drew shouted as everyone laughed in on it.
Athora's cheeks go pink and she says, "That's no way to talk to a lady Senior. Didn't your Mom ever tell you to respect older people?"
That shushed everyone up. "She is right, I teach a Senior English class also so she ended up in my Homeroom."
"And as I was saying, my name is Athora. I am 17, love to be near the sea, and I love music but I particularly write songs and sing them."
That took me and Jake by surprise. No one right up admits that they love music. "Music Freak!" Liam shouts out. The class joins in until Athora sassily says, "Anyone want to give it a shot to sing?"
No one could sing at all so they went silent. "That's it about me and I hope to see some particular people grow up."
She walks coldly and sits next to Jake. "My name's Jake. A charm with the ladies and your one and only handsome Junior."
"Hi, I would like to let you know that I will beat your butt if you try flirting with me again," Athora says coldly.
The bell rings and I already hate the new girl. Fine, at most I dislike her. I meet up with Elliot at Speech and Debate and tell him about the new girl.
"Unfortunately, that's my older sister. She's always like this and is alone because her bite and bark are equally terrifying. Athora is the reason I am even in this "attitude boosting" class," Elliot says, air quoting the attitude boosting part.
"Elliot, how does one person relate to someone so different personality wise?" I ask, not seeing how Athora, the brave and sassy Senior, and Elliot, the soft spoken and socially awkward Sophmore, are even related.
He is interrupted by a heated argument with Zoey and Athora. "How dare you call me an idiotic barbie doll?!"
"Oh I'm sorry, you look more like something that belongs in the trash with your dirty attitude."
"Girls, we will not be fighting here! Athora, sit nearby Elliot. Zoey, sit with Sadie," Mrs. Katz.
And so Athora ruffled Elliot's hair and said, "You finally made some friends, dork."
"Y-yeah, it's all thanks to Milly and Carmi," Elliot stuttered.
And so the day went by and apparently Jake was going to hang out with Drew and the Homies. I walked over with Jake and I noticed the tension between him and Hailey. "Did you guys start crushing?"
"What? No! It's," Jake said defensively before sighing, "I think I might've upset Hailey with Drew and his crew coming in. They messed around and I said stupid things."
"I get it but this is the first time I've seen you look up to anything other than hanging out with the Homies or me," I say while touching his shoulder, "You should listen to your heart. Even if the Homies don't protect you anymore, then I'll do my best to do so to you."
