Chapter 10: AI Trickles Back In

Author's Note: *sings* This is a story that's unveiiiiiled. This is the insane part with a lot more action thereeeeeeee. Enjoy this story that's explaineeeeeed. Also this is more action and no songs. Present day: October 27, 2030

My alarm clock rings like usual. I turn it off and get up while still staying in bed. That dream of what had happened 10 years ago is still fresh in my mind. The day that the Music club had ditched Jake because of a mistake and misunderstanding. I try not to think about it a lot but they are appearing in my dreams more often than I'd like it to be.

"Yo Carmi, you're awake?" a voice says.

It was Henry, my boyfriend. He had stayed the night with me again. I like it when he sleeps with me (not like that though) because it always feels like the house is filled with people I know.

"Yup, I need to get to Rosemeadow Middle School to teach," I called out.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I'm a Creative Writing teacher in my past middle school (not the one I was bullied at of course)! Whenever me and Jake have free days and we feel like doing something, we do concerts and sing at many places (preferably Stacy's Mamamia Pizza).

Drew is a robotic engineer now and is constantly working on inventions that will help the world one way or another. He loves visiting me on the weekends. Currently, he's dating Daisy and they both are perfect together. Turns out Daisy and Drew had a bunch of stuff in common and started loving each other. Eventually, 4 years ago Drew asked Daisy to be his girlfriend. She accepted him to his surprise and they loved each other a lot.

Liam is a material scientist and we only see him on holidays because of how hard he works. He has transformed from a bully to a confident and at least more mature innovator that helps inventors with what materials are safe and which ones are not good for the environment. Every Earth's day he comes to my class to teach them about what to use and what not to use.

Henry had become an actor and has starred in many children movies (the stuff that is for middle schoolers sorta thing). He had asked me out when we were in separate colleges and I accepted because he is a good natured guy that stood by me no matter what. Lia and Henry are now good friends and they get along very well since they had a lot in common.

Zoey, surprisingly, became a singer. She had a change of heart during her suspension and found a love for expressing her emotions through songs. I listen to them every morning because of how beautiful they are. She also apologized to us all and she was now our friend. We always invited her to our get-togethers and any events we were planning.

Lia became a counselor at Rosemeadow High. She always felt invisible, despite all the popularity she had in high school, so she wanted to help people who were similar to her. She also was our friend and hung out with Zoey a lot because they got their friendship back together.

I entered the school and was greeted by the other teachers. They like me and we all talk together at lunch and we're like family. And of course I help them with planning for the kids, advice for anything, etc. My lesson is ready by the time the warning bell rings. The early kids come in as usual; eventually, by the time the bell rings everyone is in their seats.

"Good morning class," I said.

"Good morning, Ms. Elrod," the class says back.

"Now let's all start on our opener which is on the board."
