As Hansol strummed his guitar, the soothing chords filling the room, his phone buzzed on the table beside him. He glanced over at the screen, where Chan's name flashed brightly. He hesitated for a moment, his fingers lingering on the strings, before picking up the phone.
"Yo, Hansol! Where are you, man?" Chan's voice came through loud and clear, his usual burst of energy apparent even through the phone. "Class starts in like ten minutes! You forgot or what?"
Hansol blinked, momentarily disoriented. Class? He had completely lost track of time, lost in his thoughts about Seungkwan, the call with Seungcheol, and everything in between. He put his guitar down and rubbed his forehead, trying to pull himself together.
"Oh, right," Hansol muttered, sitting up straighter. "I'll be there in a sec. Just... finishing up something."
"Finishing up what? A love ballad for Seungkwan?" Chan teased, chuckling on the other end. "You've been acting all weird lately, dude. What's going on?"
Hansol could practically hear the smirk in Chan's voice, and he groaned internally. Of course, Chan was the type to pick up on every little thing. The guy was like a hawk when it came to reading people.
"Shut up, Chan," Hansol replied, but there was no real heat in his voice. "It's not like that."
"Uh-huh, sure," Chan said, clearly not buying it. "You didn't even talk to me when I came home last night. I'm guessing someone's on your mind, huh? Someone whose name rhymes with 'Seungkwan'?"
Hansol's eyes widened slightly, and he rubbed the back of his neck, feeling his cheeks warm up. Chan really didn't let anything slide, did he?
"Okay, okay," Hansol sighed, giving in just a little. "Maybe I've been... distracted."
"Ha! I knew it!" Chan's voice rang out in triumph. "You're so obvious, man. So, what's the deal? You jealous about Seungkwan's date or something?"
Hansol's jaw tightened at the mention of Seungkwan's date, but he quickly brushed it off. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, standing up and grabbing his bag. "I'm just... focused on my studies, that's all."
"Focused on your studies?" Chan mocked, clearly amused. "Bro, you broke a guitar string last night. I'm surprised you didn't break the whole instrument the way you were playing."
Hansol paused, startled that Chan had noticed. "You heard that?"
"Dude, I sleep like five feet away from you," Chan replied with a snicker. "Of course I heard. You were strumming that guitar like you had a personal vendetta against it."
Hansol rolled his eyes, throwing on a hoodie as he got ready to leave. "Alright, enough. I'll meet you in class."
"Sure, sure," Chan said, clearly enjoying himself. "Just try not to think about him too much during the lecture, okay? It's gonna be hard to take notes when you're all heart-eyes for Seungkwan."
Hansol groaned out loud this time, already regretting picking up the phone. "I'm hanging up now."
"Don't be late!" Chan called just before Hansol ended the call, his laughter still ringing in Hansol's ears.
Hansol grabbed his bag and keys, shaking his head with a smirk. Chan was right about one thing—he had been more distracted than usual, and that distraction had a name: Seungkwan. But Hansol wasn't about to admit that to anyone, least of all Chan.
He hurried out the door, determined to focus on class and push all thoughts of Seungkwan, jealousy, and broken guitar strings to the back of his mind. But as he headed to campus, he couldn't help but wonder—why did Seungkwan occupy his thoughts so much lately?
