Hansol had been planning this for days. Since the moment Seungkwan had agreed to let Hansol officially call him his boyfriend, Hansol had been envisioning a way to make their first real date unforgettable. For days, he'd been browsing ideas, taking notes on anything Seungkwan had casually mentioned he liked, and enlisting Chan to help him find the perfect spots. He wanted something magical, something that would make Seungkwan see how much he meant to him.
That evening, Hansol picked Seungkwan up just as the sun was starting to set, the sky streaked with hues of pink and orange, casting a warm glow that seemed to set the mood perfectly. Seungkwan's dorm was on the quieter side of campus, and as Hansol walked up to the building, he found himself feeling a little nervous. When Seungkwan opened the door, however, Hansol forgot every rehearsed line, every "cool guy" expression he'd been planning. Seungkwan looked effortlessly adorable, wearing a light sweater that Hansol immediately wanted to wrap his arms around and a smile that seemed to light up the evening even brighter than the sunset.
"You look amazing," Hansol managed, his voice soft, admiring the way Seungkwan's cheeks tinged pink at the compliment.
Seungkwan rolled his eyes but couldn't hide his smile. "You're so cheesy, Hansol. But... thanks. You look good, too." He reached up to adjust Hansol's collar with gentle fingers, a small but tender gesture that made Hansol's heart race.
"Ready for tonight?" Hansol asked, offering his hand. Seungkwan took it, a bit shy but clearly excited. He nodded, letting Hansol lead him down the steps and toward the car.
They drove out to a quiet spot on the outskirts of the city, a place that overlooked the town below and where, as Hansol had confirmed, you could see stars more clearly. As they parked and stepped out, Hansol noticed Seungkwan's eyes widen in wonder.
"Oh, wow," Seungkwan breathed, taking in the view. The city lights sparkled like tiny stars below, and above them, the night sky stretched vast and open, stars winking from the darkness.
Hansol grinned, his heart swelling with pride at having picked a spot that seemed to awe Seungkwan. "Thought you might like it," he said, slipping his hand back into Seungkwan's.
"It's beautiful," Seungkwan whispered, as though speaking louder might break the spell of the view.
As they settled on a cozy blanket Hansol had spread out, he pulled out a basket he'd packed earlier. Seungkwan raised an eyebrow, half-amused, half-curious. "What, did you plan an entire dinner out here?"
Hansol nodded, a bit sheepishly. "I did, yeah. I, uh, might've made your favorites?" He reached into the basket, pulling out an array of food, carefully packed and wrapped. There were sandwiches, cut into little triangles, a salad, and, as a surprise touch, tiny cupcakes that Seungkwan had once mentioned in passing he loved.
Seungkwan laughed, shaking his head. "You really went all out for this, didn't you?"
Hansol rubbed the back of his neck, a bit embarrassed but smiling. "I just... wanted this to be perfect. You deserve that, you know?"
They ate together, laughing and talking, Hansol telling silly stories about his friends and classes, Seungkwan chiming in with his own anecdotes, their laughter mingling with the gentle breeze. Every now and then, Hansol would catch Seungkwan looking at him, a soft smile on his face, and Hansol would feel his heart race, knowing that this—just being here with Seungkwan, making him laugh, hearing his voice—this was everything he wanted.
When they were done eating, Hansol lay back on the blanket, looking up at the stars. "You know," he began, turning his head to look at Seungkwan, "I read that when you see a shooting star, you're supposed to make a wish. That's, like, a superstition or something, right?"
