A/N: this is the longest chapter I've ever made y'all, enjoy it babes!

HEY BEAUTIFUL.❞ A voice spoke behind me as I felt two arms wrapped around me. I turned around with a smile, already knowing who it was. Jordan's familiar grin greeted me as his arms tightened around my waist.

"Hey you." I replied as I put my hands around his neck. His smile widened at my touch, but I could see the tiredness lingering his eyes. "You still look sleepy." I teased, brushing my fingers lightly through his hair at the back of his neck. "Well, If you hadn't thrown me out 5 am in the morning. I wouldn't look tired to you as I am now." he commented back.

"I know, but I couldn't risk anyone busting us together," I explained. He raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, like Olivia cares. She sensed from the beginning that something was up between us."I shook my head, "I'm not talking about her, I mean your parents, Jordan." I corrected.

He let out a small sigh, his expression softening. "I just don't want things to get weird, you know," I tried to explain again, searching his face for under-standing. He nodded, his hands gently rubbing my back. "We'll just be careful then. No one has to know, at least not until we're ready." His voice was calm, reassuring, like he really believed it.

"Thanks, Jordan." I smiled, appreciating how understanding he was. "Everything for you," he said softly, his eyes fixed on mine. "But you know, since it's Saturday, I thought we could finally have that date today."

I smiled at the idea, excited at the thought of spending time with him. But then, as something crossed my mind, my smile slowly faded. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, noticing the shift in my expression. "Jordan, I'm sorry, I can't," I said apologetically.

"Spencer's mom is organizing a cookout, and I already promised I'd be there." I added on. "Then I'll just have to come with you." He replied back, making me raise my eyebrows in surprise.

"Wait, really? You don't need to," I told him, but he shook his head. "I want to. That way, I can learn more about you, where you come from, and meet your family." His words caused a smile to form on my lips again. "Okay, but we should go now because we're already thirty minutes late," I said, glancing at my phone to check the time.

Jordan laughed softly and nodded. "Alright, let's go. The last thing I want is to miss out on free food," he joked, grabbing my hand and leading me out the door.

As we walked to his car, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. I was about to introduce him to my people in Crenshaw and I just hoped they would like him.

Spencer and Jordan were still not on good terms, so I hoped bringing him to the cookout could help mend things between them and create a new bond. It would be great if they could see past their differences, especially since they both meant so much to me.
