Heeseung let out a long, frustrated sigh, pulling his wrist free from Jay’s grasp.
“Even if there was something going on between Sunghoon and me..I told you before.”
Heeseung began, meeting Jay’s gaze head on.
“You don’t have the right to tell me not to talk to him.”“Oh, so there is something going on between you two.”
He said, his tone more teasing than accusatory.
“Got it.”Heeseung’s breath caught in his throat, realizing too late that he had fallen into Jay’s trap.
He hadn’t meant to reveal anything, but the way Jay phrased it, the way he cornered him, made Heeseung stumble.
He opened his mouth to argue, but before he could find the words, Jay stood up, pushing his chair back with a scraping sound.
“Okay, Heeseung.”
Jay said, turning as if he were about to leave.
“If that’s how it is, then I guess I’ll-”“Wait.”
Heeseung reached out, grabbing Jay’s arm before he could walk away.
The action was impulsive, and Jay didn’t flinch, didn’t even look surprised.
He simply turned his head slightly, his eyes glinting with the satisfaction of knowing that Heeseung couldn’t let him leave like that.
Jay raised his eyebrows, his smirk deepening.
“I knew you’d stop me.”Heeseung’s grip loosened, but his hand remained on Jay’s arm, his heart pounding in his chest.
He knew that Jay was aware of it, could see it in the way he carried himself, always confident, always waiting for Heeseung to break first.
“You can’t have it both ways.” Heeseung said, his voice shaky but determined.
“You can’t push me away and then expect me to..”“To choose me?”
Jay interrupted, his tone surprisingly soft now. He stepped closer, his eyes searching Heeseung’s face.
“I know you’ll never choose him over me, Heeseung.”Jay’s confidence, the way he seemed to always know exactly where they stood, it was infuriating, but it was also the reason Heeseung had never been able to completely pull away from him.
Jay knew how Heeseung felt, even if Heeseung wasn’t ready to admit it out loud.
“I don’t want to choose.”
Heeseung whispered, his chest tightening.Jay leaned in, his voice low and firm as he said,
“But you will. Because you already have.”Heeseung let out a short, dry laugh, crossing his arms tightly against his chest.
He stared at Jay, feeling a sudden surge of defiance rise within him.
If Jay wanted to play games, then fine, Heeseung wasn’t going to back down.
“I was in Sunghoon’s dorm last night, yes.”
Heeseung said.
“So what? I'll go again if I want to.”Jay’s expression shifted slightly, his smirk faltering for a moment.
“So what?”
Jay repeated slowly, raising an eyebrow.
“You think that’s supposed to bother me?”Heeseung shrugged, holding his ground.
“I don’t know. You tell me.”For a moment, they stood there, the air between them thick with tension.
Jay’s gaze bore into Heeseung’s, the usual arrogance still present, but there was something else beneath the surface now.
A crack in the confidence he always carried.
