Jaiyana

"Jai I'm so happy you're back!," my best friend Lina said to me. I smile at her as we make our way to the bar.

"It feels....like I never left to be honest," I admitted while laughing a bit. The female bartender approaches us and we both order a drink. Cranberry and vodka for me and a long island for Lina. I look around the crowded club and I push a bit of hair behind my ear. It's been over three years since I have been in this club. Definitely looks different in terms of renovations and decor, but the vibe still feels very similar. After a few minutes, the bartender serves us our drinks. Lina pays the bill and the tip and we both take a sip of our drinks as we turn away from the bar.

"Thanks for the drink Lina," I said.

"Of course baby. I'm so happy my best friend is back in Houston!," Lina said. She taps her glass to mine and I laugh a bit.

"I honestly am happy to be back," I said while looking around a bit. I have this strange feeling like a pair of eyes are on me. I take another sip of my drink and Lina grabs my hand as we make our way into the crowd. She turns to face me and we begin to move our bodies to the current R&B song playing. I still feel those eyes. I let my eyes travel a bit and to my right I see....him. He is staring right at me. Oh god.

"Baby...switch with me," I said to Lina. She raises an eyebrow, but obliges as me and her switch spots.

"What's up you good?," Lina said while leaning in close so I could hear her over the music.

"It's....him....look to your right," I said. Lina takes a sip of her drink, still moving her body to the beat, as her eyes travel to her right. They widen a bit and then her eyes snap into mine.

"Oh shit...it's him. Oh my god," Lina said.

"Fuck," I said lowly.

"Do you want to leave?," Lina offered.

"No it's ok we just got here," I responded wearily. I know he is still watching me.

"Ok....do you want to talk to him?"

"What? Fuck no. Fuck him," I said quickly. Lina's eyes soften as she nods her head. Why did Cairo have to be here? I sigh as I take a sip of my drink.

"Shit where did he go?," Lina asked after a few minutes. I turn my head to see Cairo has vanished from the spot I just spotted him moments ago.

"Oh shit, he's coming this way!," Lina said while tapping my arm. I just give her a horrified look.

"Let's go," I said quickly. Lina nods her head and she turns and grabs my hand and begins to walk in the opposite direction. I felt the slight touch of a finger as I was walking away, and I know it was him just at the gasp I let out at the small contact. Fuck. We walk and maze a bit, until a body stops right in front of us. I recognize that cologne anywhere. I slowly look up and my eyes land on him. Cairo. My eyes travel over the fitted resting on his head, his small brown eyes, down past his nose, to his plump lips. My eyes travel over the freckles spread across his cheeks. My heart skips a beat as I take in his outfit of, a crisp graphic black and white tee, dark wash jeans, and black Giuseppe sneakers. My eyes travel over his jewelry, which is literally blinding from the chain around his neck, to his earrings, and his watch. It looks like he added an additional nose piercing as well as numerous tattoos, as his arms, and neck are now completely covered. Damn he got even finer these past three years fuck.

"You running from me Jai?," Cairo said smoothly in that raspy, Houston accent while staring at me. Fuck. That voice. I instantly got chills but did my best to hide it.

"Don't call me that," I snapped. Cairo chuckles a bit and nods his head.

"Sorry about that. Jaiyana," Cairo corrected while smiling at me.
