Gojo returns to Jujutsu Tech the same way he left: suddenly and unannounced.
It's a gloomy Wednesday afternoon. We convinced Yuji to beg Nanami for the day off, being absolutely beat from the brutal cardio workout we were put through yesterday. I've learned that the two have a unique little dynamic, which I honestly find to be quite cute. Yuji adores that man like a little boy adores his own father. Nanami, though quite reserved, doesn't hide his affection for Yuji very well. I mean, he didn't even bat an eye when he called him Nanamin, but would scold Nobara for doing it.
Needless to say, it didn't take much begging from Yuji to convince him to give us a rest day.
So, sore, burnt out, and desperate for rest, we all went about our day separately as opposed to our usual gathering in the kitchen. Yuji's watching TV, Nobara is catching up on laundry, and Megumi is studying in his room.
I find myself in the library, my nose buried in one of the books Megumi recommended I read. All that can be heard is the soft pattering of rain on the roof and the occasional turning of pages. It's a nice respite from the pure chaos of my training.
I sense Gojo's presence before he barges in, although his entrance still startles me. He throws the door open and strolls in with his usual demanding aura, a boyish grin playing on his lips. I keep my head down, intently watching his movements in my periphery.
"Why, hello there!" He greets me, an energetic bounce to his words. "Did you miss me?"
No.
I shrug.
He pulls a chair up beside me, spinning it around and plopping down so that he's straddling the back of it. A faint wisp of his cologne meets my nostrils and my stomach churns. He's dangerously close, his presence sending a dense wave of tension ripping through me. My eyes vigorously scan the contents of the pages in front of me, yet none of the words register in my head.
"I hear you've been working hard," he goes on, coolly. "Even Nanami is impressed by your progress."
Don't even look up at him.
Gojo leans back a bit, clearly noting my reluctance to interact with him. He smirks, raising a brow at me, seemingly in disbelief that I'm actually ignoring him. Like this is a game to him—well, I guess it is.
He lets out a pronounced sigh, puffing out his bottom lip. "Are you mad at me for leaving? Well, aren't you clingy?"
Far from it, especially with you.
"Awww, don't be that way now." Gojo reaches out, twirling his finger into one of the ends of the bow in my hair. Just those few centimeters between his finger and my scalp sends a jolt of electricity down my spine. And, as electricity does, it causes my muscles to lock up, restricting me to an unmoving, rigid position in my seat. My jaw clenches and my eyes look everywhere but at him.
