Nakita had been watching Livia's house for about a week when finally, Livia did something noteworthy. She was able to intercept a message that Livia Milton had sent out. Without the servant knowing she retrieved the message from him and read it. Then she was able to put the message back to where she had taken it from all without the servant noticing her.

The letter wasn't addressed to anyone, but she could tell that it was going to someone important. She could tell that by the contents of the letter. It contained information about Prince Zander's movements and all military orders that had been decided on by the emperor and the generals.

It seemed that Livia was the one gathering all the important information about the happenings of the capital. It made her wonder even more who she was working with other than her mother.

Since the message contained such important information, she continued to follow the servant to see who it was being delivered to. After following the servant for the entire day Nakita realized that she might be following them for quite some time.

The servant stopped at an inn for the night, so Nakita set up not far from it in a tree. The skies were clear, and she needed to see when the servant left in the morning so she could follow them again.

Once she had her hammock set up in some trees in view of the inn she set about writing a message to Prince Zander. In the message she let him know which way she had headed and what information was in the message she found. She also suggested that he try to flush out any possible spies that might belong to Livia Milton or anyone else for that matter.

After finishing the message, she paused in realization. She told Prince Zander that if she was in trouble she would send Jade, her bird. So, she would have to send the message with one of the others, but which one. After a few seconds she decided to send Sage, her fox. Sage was quick and could hide easily. If someone noticed that she was carrying a message, Sage would be able to get away easily.

Nakita summoned Sage off her lower back, where Sage appeared as a tattoo on her body. Sage appeared at her feet as beautiful as ever in her red and black fur. She showed the letter to Sage and then using her mind connection with Sage she showed Sage who to give it to. She pictured Prince Zander. Once the message was pinned to the collar around Sage's neck, Sage gave a nod and took off back the way they had come.

After sending Sage off, Nakita hunkered down in her hammock and waited for morning so she could continue following the servant Livia Milton had sent with the message.

Whenever Nakita slept outside, she always slept lightly. So as soon as the sun started streaking across the sky and the sounds of people nearby, she woke and began to pack up her hammock again.

Once her things were packed, she sat in a tree watching the inn where Livia Milton had spent the night while she ate some dried meat that she had brought with her. She also made sure to drink some water. Luckily, Nakita had just finished eating when Livia appeared outside the inn. Moments later Livia's carriage pulled up beside her and she headed in the same direction that she had been going yesterday.

Nakita climbed down out of the tree and summoned her horse, Osiris, mounted him and headed out after Livia Milton north. After following Livia for a week, it became clear that Livia was indeed working with her mother since the place Livia had been heading to was her mother's home.

Nakita knew the property well, so she knew where to hide so that she would be able to eavesdrop on Livia's and her mother's conversation. There was a bush outside a window next to the room her mother and Livia were talking in
