"Well, glad for the backup then" I said, as the officer put the chip into the system, downloading the AI into the ship
"Relena, status report" I asked
"Minimal damages caused from failed slipspace jump, only non-essential systems have been compromised" the AI responded as I sighed in relief to that
"Thank the good gods, alright, new question, where are we" I asked
"Sir, picking up signs of a UNSC ship, its the fifth winter, orion-class" the intelligence officer said
"That ship was lost with all hands, FTL malfunction, open a channel" I said
"This is the UNSC infinity, to the fifth winter, please respond" I called
"No response" the intelligence officer said
"Bring us alongside the winter and dock us, send a team over i want a report on that ship" I said, it took over an hour before the infinity was hailed by the fifth winter
"Sir, we found a log on board, the crew had evacuated the ship, and attempted to self-destruct, obviously the latter didn't work, but there is no one here, the ship is fully operational, but I figured out why they left, we are in a different dimension, there's no way home, its escort the halcyon-class UNSC dawn under heaven, the paris-class UNSC-promise of dawn, and the stalwart-class UNSC midsummer's knight are also here, they are orbiting the nearby moon and likewise been abandoned, the odd thing is all of the ships are supposed to have self-destructed yet haven't" the soldier said
"Questions for later, can you get the fifth winter moving" I asked
"I believe so, sir" he said
"Then pilot the ship to that moon, we'll see if we can't squeeze the two frigates into the infinity, and then we'll figure out how to crew three ships capital ships with the crew of a single frigate
"Sir, i am programmed to full control the infinity, with only a captain to guide me" relena said
"That helps, right commander, your in charge of ybe infinity then, I'll split the crew, two thirds will take over the fifth winter, the rest will pilot the dawn under heaven" I said
"Shouldn't you stay here and coordinate the fleet" she asked
"Do you want commsnd of the winter, with a ship that doesn't even have enough to equate to a skeleton crew" I asked
"I believe we will manage" she replied
"Alright, you can have the winter, I'll stay aboard the infinity" i said
"Very good, sir" she said, as she left to the dreamkeeper yo take charge of diving up the crew between the various vessels
Three hours later, the fleet was on the move
"Well, we are still earth ships, so we will head to earth and give our services to whatever government may be there" I said, relena would you plot our course" I asked
"Affirmative, however the translight engine aboard the infinity is now dangerously out of alignment, it is highly likely to overload during transit" relena said
"I thought you said we only took minor damage to unessential systems" I said
"Correct, the translight engine was not damaged" relena said, at least to her understanding it wasn't, I sighed
"Right, i guess we set our course at sublihjt speed and hope we get lucky then, the sunlight engines on this ship are working right" I asked
"Affirmative" she said
"Then plot our course, and relay it to the fleet" I said
"Understood" the AI replied, doing as she was told
