Uriel reeled back in horror at the sight of the bones that she danced on! Her feet slinking their way back to the tree line.
"What--- is this?!" She squealed.
Ethan and I were both frozen in place. Looking down at the skull that Uriel's shoe had uncovered. It wasn't human, but the bones attached showed that it belonged to a larger humanoid creature.
Ethan and I stepped hesitantly back toward Uriel. Our eyes locked onto the snow as we approached the safety of the trees.
"It's some sort of--- graveyard," I remarked.
All of us gaped at the extensive pale landscape before us. Taking notice now of all the gore that protruded from the thinning snow.
"I am not walking through that. We'll just have to go around." Uriel replied sternly.
"That could take hours, and the sun is already setting. Besides... we need a place to sleep for the night."
I pointed my finger to the ruins that rested at the lowest point in the field.
Uriel let out a sarcastic chuckle as she tilted her head in my direction.
"Are you out of your mind?! Do you not see that the place surrounding it is riddled with bones?! Where would you have us camp next? A wolf's den?!"
"Well, I'd feel a lot better having some walls around me considering there's a two-ton slab of fur and claws walking around here!"
Uriel groaned. Rubbing her eyes with her fingers as she paced from tree to tree.
"What do you think Ethan?" She finally responded.
Ethan perked his head up, looking at the both of us.
"Oh, I get a say in this?" He replied quickly.
"Sure, don't see why not. Can't be any worse than this guy's deathwish"
I winced at Uriel. Making her aware that she would end up biting those words.
"Wellll---," Ethan let on. "We know that there is some bear creature walking around in the woods, and it is safe to assume that he is not the only thing that probably wants to eat us. There is also no way of knowing if something is sneaking up on us when it gets dark and we will most likely meet a quick death if something were to just happen upon us especially if it's that creepy tall antlers guy. Then there's that building over there. Which seems spooky considering the mountain of bodies just outside, but realistically if we make sure the inside is safe and secure we are definitely much safer than we would be out here. That all depends on how many exits there are and whether or not Adam can come up with a plan should a predator find us. So in my opinion I say the ruins."
I blinked a few times as Ethan finished his proposal. In shock at the words that had just come out of his mouth.
"Wow... that was somewhat thought out," I mumbled.
"I dabble in the occasional thought," Ethan shrugged.
Uriel bit her lip as she continued her pacing. Her eyes shifting from one side to the other as she thought.
"And you don't think there will be something in there waiting for us?!" Uriel shuddered.
"I didn't say that, but we don't have a lot of time to look for alternatives do we?" Ethan replied, looking up at the encroaching planets.
A sigh escaped her mouth as she accepted the reality that this was our only reliable option.
"Ok... well let's hurry up and get there before the sun sets."
