Chapter 27
•••••
It was a bright Saturday morning when the cheerful voice of Ronron greeted Amando and Rafael as he climbed into the car.
"Tito Daddy! Lolo!"
They had just said goodbye to Sam, who agreed to let them take Ronron out for a day of fun.
"Ingatan niyo ang anak ko." she warned with a hint of threat in her voice, prompting laughter from all three.
"Bye, Mommy!" Ronron waved enthusiastically, excitement bubbling in him.
Once seated in the back, Rafael fastened Ronron's seatbelt, ensuring he was secure before returning to the passenger seat beside Amando.
"Ready ka na, apo?" Amando asked, a warm smile on his face.
Ronron nodded eagerly, and with that, they were off. The car ride was filled with the cheerful noises of Rafael and Ronron chatting animatedly.
"Where's Lola? Hindi ba siya sasama sa atin?" Ronron inquired, his face alight with curiosity.
"Pupuntahan natin si Lola. Patapos na ang meeting niya kaya susunduin natin siya." Amando replied, steering the car down the road.
"Yehey! I miss Lola! Tito Daddy, do you play robots? Or cars? I brought my toys with me, maglaro tayo ha?" Ronron's excitement was infectious.
"Sure, Ronron. We'll play later." Rafael assured him, smiling at his nephew's cuteness.
"Maghanda ka. Walang kapaguran ang batang 'yan." Amando joked, glancing at his son and chuckling softly.
As they arrived at the mining site, they immediately spotted Aurora, busy directing operations. She was wearing a hard hat and talking to a man holding several papers, pointing out different areas of the site.
"Lola!" Ronron shouted, his voice filled with joy.
"Ma!" Rafael chimed in, both of them leaning eagerly out of the car window, waving at her.
Aurora looked up, and her face broke into a radiant smile as she recognized the most important boys in her life.
"Excuse me." she said politely to the man she was speaking with, before rushing toward them.
"Lola, let's go na!" Ronron exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement.
"Why are you here?" she asked, her smile growing wider as Amando approached and kissed her on the cheek.
"Gusto daw kasi ni Papa na magbonding tayo. Kaya tara na, Ma." Rafael said.
"But, I still have—"
"Aurora!" she started, but was interrupted by Galvan, who had just arrived. "You go with them. I'll handle everything here."
"Thank you, Lolo Dad!" Ronron shouted, waving at Galvan.
"Sige na, ako na ang bahala dito." Galvan replied, smiling back at his grandson and nephew.
"Thank you, Kuya." Aurora said, removing her hard hat and handing it to her brother.
"Mag-iingat kayo." he reminded them as they piled back into the car.
As they drove away, Aurora couldn't helped but hum along with the stereo, her voice blending seamlessly with Amando's as they sang,
"At wala ng iba pang mas mahalaga, sa tamis na dulot ng pag-ibig... nating dal'wa..."
"They're so sweet, Tito Daddy. Hindi ka ba naiinggit?" Ronron giggled, his innocent words making Aurora and Amando smile.
