Chapter 5: Rudransh’s Rough Day at the Office
It was just another busy day at Suryawanshi Industries, and Rudransh was deeply engrossed in work, reviewing the details of a high-stakes project. Everything needed to be perfect, and he had no patience for errors.
The silence in his office was broken by a loud, unannounced entry.
Rudra! You need to install better security, yaar. I just waltz in here without so much as a beep,” came a cheery voice. It was none other than Aman Mehra, Rudra’s best friend since childhood, with his trademark carefree grin plastered on his face.
Without lifting his eyes from the file in front of him, Rudransh said in a dry, clipped tone, “Aman, how many times do I have to say—don’t come in without knocking?”
Aman laughed and casually threw himself onto the couch, completely ignoring Rudransh’s reprimand. “I knocked... in my mind!” He winked, enjoying the look of irritation on Rudra’s face.
Before Rudransh could respond, his other best friend, Kabir Sharma, strolled right behind Aman, holding a coffee cup. Kabir flashed a grin. “Oh come on, Rudra, lighten up! We’re not your employees, yaar. Besides, it’s not like you keep any secrets in here, right? Or should we be worried?”
Rudransh finally looked up, his icy gaze piercing through both of them. “You should be worried if you don’t stop testing my patience.”
Kabir smirked, completely unfazed. “You say that, but deep down, you’d be bored without us.” He leaned against Rudransh’s desk and took a sip of his coffee, making himself completely at home, much to Rudra’s annoyance.
“Remind me why we’re friends again?” Rudransh muttered.
“Because no one else can handle your mood swings and insane work schedule,” Aman chimed in, pulling out his phone and scrolling through messages, completely oblivious to the tension he was causing. “But don’t worry, we keep you grounded.”
Rudransh shot them both a glare that would’ve sent his employees running, but these two? They were immune to his temper.
“Rudra, you okay? You seem more on edge than usual,” Kabir asked, his tone more serious.
Rudransh, still scanning through documents, didn’t answer. His jaw tightened as he came across glaring mistakes in the project files he was reviewing. “This is unacceptable,” he muttered under his breath.
Aman raised an eyebrow. “Someone’s having a bad day.”
Kabir, noticing Rudransh’s clenched fists, shook his head. “Don’t push him, Aman. Looks like something went seriously wrong.”
Just then, Rudransh’s assistant entered, trying to tread lightly. “Sir, the team is ready for the meeting.”
Rudransh stood up abruptly, gathering his files. His irritation was evident, but he tried to stay composed. “This meeting better not waste my time.”
Rudransh grabbed the reports and walked out, his friends trailing behind. The meeting room was filled with anxious employees. The atmosphere was tense, and everyone could sense Rudransh’s irritation.
Kabir and Aman exchanged concerned looks as Rudransh reached to the conference room, where his frustration finally boiled over. The project he had trusted his team with was riddled with errors—important data was wrong, timelines were missed, and the client’s expectations were mismanaged
As soon as the meeting began, it became clear how bad things were. The project lead tried to explain the situation, but Rudransh cut him off. “Don’t make excuses. This is unacceptable. How could you let this happen?”
The lead stammered, “Sir, we— we thought—”
“Thought what? That the client wouldn’t notice missing data? That they wouldn’t care if the entire timeline was pushed back?” Rudransh’s voice was icy. “You’ve put the entire deal at risk. Fix this, or I’ll find someone who can.”
The employee, pale and shaken, nodded quickly, scrambling to correct the error.
The meeting ended quickly, with the team scrambling to correct their mistakes. Rudransh stormed back to his office, seething. Aman and Kabir followed him in, exchanging worried glances.
Aman tried to lighten the mood. “Okay, that was intense. But seriously, Rudra, you’re going to give yourself a heart attack if you keep this up.” and rudra ignores him but Aman is Aman . And he smirked and said, “Man, you’ve got some serious anger issues. Ever considered yoga?”
Rudransh didn’t respond, pacing the length of his office. Kabir, trying to be the voice of reason, said, “You’ve been under a lot of pressure lately. This isn’t just about the project, is it?”
Rudransh stopped pacing and turned to his friends. “I can’t afford for things to fall apart now. Not when we’re this close to sealing the deal.”
Aman grinned. “Then maybe you should hire me. I’d fix everything in a day.”
Rudransh finally let out a small, frustrated laugh. “You’d burn this place to the ground.”
Aman shrugged. “At least it’d be interesting.”
Kabir, more serious, placed a hand on Rudransh’s shoulder. “Take it easy, Rudra. You can’t control everything.”
But Rudransh was already grabbing his jacket. “I need some air,” he muttered and walked out, leaving his friends behind once again.
