One Piece (SSW Backstory)

Chapter 24

Saphira's POV

"Mikey!"

We looked everywhere and there was still no sign of him.

"Mikey!"

When it got dark and only Ralph returned back to the alley, we split into groups of two and started a search for him. Winifred, Ralph and I are in one team, while Silver went with Charlie. We decided to meet back up at the alley when the towns large clock strikes midnight, be it with or without Mikey. If we haven't found Mikey after midnight, we'll continue the search early the morning. But, for how long we have searched, I was getting increasingly worried that we won't find him tonight.

"Mikey, you idiot, where are you?!" Ralph cupped his hands around his mouth to make his shouts echo off the walls of the buildings. Even when he looked piss and stomping around, I could see the worry in his eyes. He's probably regretting everything right now. As angry as I am at him, I'd probably have been an idiot too and not know how to handle the situation. So, all I can do is sympathize for him and help him out. "Once we find Mikey, you're going to apologize." I made sure to use my no nonsense tone, that I knew won't work on him.

"HUHH?! Why should I apologize? He's the one who started it!" Ralph, quite literally, shouted in my face and I had to take a step back to miss the flying spit. "It's your words that drove him away." I try to stay calm and act like the adult, but if he shouts in my face like that again, I'm going to punch him. He scoffed at my words as he stomped ahead of us. I sigh in exhaustion, feeling like a tired mother of twenty kids. "Ah-" I reach up to rub my forehead. 'Did I seriously just walk into a wall?' I look up to see what I walked into. I stared right into Ralph's back.

"Why did you suddenly stop?" When he didn't respond, I peak out from behind him and gasped at the sight in front of us. "They got Mikey!" Winifred screamed her little lungs out, catching the attention of the large group of men carrying Mikey's unconcious body. "What-" Ralph clenched his fists, "-the hell?" By his trembling shoulders, I knew he was going to pick a fight with them. I looked between our sad looking group of hungry kids and the group of big tough looking men. "Wait, maybe we should ask first-" My words fell on deaf ears as Ralph gave a battle cry and charged right at them.

Winifred threw her fists into the air and gave her own battle cry before charging after Ralph. "Wait! Oh for the love of-" I groan in frustration and chased after them. As we near the group of men, they finally noticed our 'fierce' group screaming and running right at them. "Who are they?" One of the men pointed at us, seeming confused of why we're coming at them. "Don't know..." The biggest guy in the group scrathed behind his head as he watches us along with the rest of them.

"What's the fuss about?" A red head lady stepped out from behind the group of men. Before the men could say anything, Ralph pounced the guy that was carrying Mikey. "Let go of my brother!" Ralph threw punch after punch into the guys abdomen and the guy seemed unfazed. "Brother? You mean this kid?" The guy gave Ralph a casual push and Ralph stumbled back. The red head lady stepped forward to get a better look at Ralph, but stopped in her track when she felt small fists hitting her thigh. I gasped so loud I almost swallowed my tongue.

The red lady bursts out in laughter when she looked down and saw little Winifred punching her leg with her tiny fists. "Well, aren't you a feisty one." The red head lady picked up Winidred effortlessly and quite literally put her in air jail. Winifred was kicking her little legs and wildly swinging her fists around as she glares at the lady. "Wait! Please, put her down. She didn't mean any harm." My heart was racing as the group of men laughed at the spectacle that was Winifred. "No harm? I can see it in her eyes, she wants to tear me apart. Ain't that right, cutie?" The red lady made baby faces at her.
