One Piece (SSW Backstory)

Chapter 18

Saphira's POV

June 13th. Located outside the skirts of Dung town, near the fishing docks. Our target was in sight. A average sized cargo ship was slowly pulling in. What we want is what's on that ship. What we learned, thanks to Donny, is that the cargo wasn't for Dung island. This was just a half way point for them. The ships going to dock, fill up on their supplies and be on their merry way.

Unfortunately for them, they are going to be missing a few things before they leave. It was my little sister's birthday today, and we had trouble finding her a decent present. Donny, the mysterious information gatherer, found out about the ship's arrival and what is on board. I immidiately declared that we rob them. Not of everything, of course. Only what we need.

Ralph and Leo were against it, saying it was too risky. Donny, he didn't show it outwards, was excited of this new challenge. Mikey and Charlie was excited, too. They were out voted and didn't have a choice, but to join our 'little' mission. Ralph was still hard on not doing this, but conceded when I mention that it was for Winifred. So, here we are, on a mission to rob a ship.

We had to change our usual group formation to make this work. Instead of Mikey, I was going to run in with Ralph. Mikey and Leo were going to be a destraction for the crew of the ship. Donny was going to play look out as usual. Charlie got the most important role, he is going to be the key to our success.

Ralph and I were waiting behind a warehouse building. Donny will give us the signal when it was time. Mikey and Leo already set the plan in motion. I watch them talk to the crew. I was too far away to hear them, but by the crew's loud laughter, I knew they were doing great. "How long are they going to take?" Ralph grumbled as he almost pushed me to the ground trying to see what I'm seeing.

I push him back, "Be patient, Donny hasn't given the signal yet." He grumbled again and crossed his arms as he 'tried' to be patient. I turn back to watch Mikey and Leo again. I turned back just in time to see them leading the laughing crew away from the docks. I knew the signal was going to come soon, so I looked to the roofs of the warehouses to make sure I don't miss it.

"Get ready." Ralph stopped leaning against the wall as he prepare himself for our turn to come. We waited a couple more seconds before I saw the flickering light from the rooftops. I nod to Ralph as we dash out onto the docks. We made sure to move fast but carefully, as we didn't want to be spotted by the workers that was still doing their jobs. As we near the ship, I spotted a flash of pink hair in my peripheral vision.

"Charlie is getting in position." I whispered to Ralph as we near our target ship. We stopped right under the gangplank. We looked to the rooftops of the warehouses again to wait for our second signal. Donny mentioned that every ship, when docking, there is alway someone left behind to gaurd the ship. I spotted the guy walking along the ship's quarterdeck.

'I'm glad Donny taught us the names and locations of each part of a ship, or else this mission would have been impossible.'  Ralph pointed to the rooftops. Donny gave us the signal. Ralph and I quickly jumped out from under the gangplank and run up to the main deck. I paused to look up at the quarterdeck to see Charlie smiling down at us, and the gaurd of the ship unconscious by his feet.

"Over here." Ralph whisper-shout as he pointed to the door that should lead us to the hull of the ship. That's where all the cargo is stored. I gave Charlie a nod as I join Ralph by the door. Here comes Ralph's job. He tugged on the doorknobs, only for the door to be locked. "Guess Donny was right, they would lock it." He took out lockpicks from his pocket and started working on unlocking the door. I turned to look behind us and saw Charlie kneeling by the chains of the ship, keeping a look out for us.
