Saphira's POV
It's been five days that we've been on this island, which we yesterday found out was called Mors Island, and I felt like killing someone. My stomach gave an angry growl for the umptious time today. Silver and I were walking around by the port, still looking for jobs. Silver sighs as her stomach also gives a loud angry growl. "I'm so hungry..." All I could do is nod my head in agreement, for I was hungry too. It didn't help that every third shop we passed was a bakery with some delicious, mouth-watering pasteries.
"Hey... is that who I think it is?" Silver tugged on my shirt and pointed towards the warehouses. I squinted my eyes to see at what she was pointing at. My eyes widen when I reconized the three kids chatting with one of the dockers. I grab Silver's hand and tug her along as we got a bit closer to get a better look. "It is them!" I shushed Silver before she caught their attention. Thanks to the virus inhancing our hearing, I could hear them clearly. "We just want to know if you have seen them?" Leo looked annoyed with the docker. "Like I said, there are too many kids with similar features, so I can't really help you." The docker looked annoyed too.
Angie was the one who looked ready to strangle the guy, "Four of them have unique skin, one has a scar on his face and the other...uhm...what's a unique feature Mikey have?" She scratch behind her head in annoyance as she tries to remember. Donny was just standing there, arms crossed, as he boredly looked around. Leo sighed as he stepped forward to grab the docker's attention, "They are six kids that are always together, three girls and three boys. Come on man, don't let me describe each one's features again." Nevermind, Leo looks like he's close to murdering the guy.
"Their looking for us." Silver whispered in my ear. I nod my head, "I mean, why else would they be hear." Silver rolls her eyes at me, "Of course." We came out from the crates we were hiding behind and dodge the working dockers carrying heavy cargo. "Leo, Donny, Angie, over here!" I wave a hand above my head. Donny was the first to spot us and pointed towards us. "Saphira and Silver!" Angie rushed passed Leo and Donny, and straight at us. I braced myself as she tackled me first into a hug. It felt like she was squeezing my lungs.
"It's nice...to see you...too." I groan as she gave me one last hard squeeze before letting go and hugging Silver, more gently by the way. "Well, you two look as grey as ever." Leo ruffled up my hair, I groan and swat at his hand. "Wow, great to see you too, you jerk." Leo chuckled at the stink eye I was giving him. Donny only gave us a nod of acknologement, not one for physical contact. I turn to face Angie and gave her a once-over and was happy to see she looked healthy. "How are you feeling?" Angie's smile faultered a bit, "I'm fine. It took some convincing from Leo and Donny that if we didn't leave with the next cargo ship, we'll have to wait for a whole month for the next one."
I should have know, someone doesn't get over grief so quickly. Now I feel terrible for asking. "What about the house?" Silver gently took Angie's hand in hers as her way of comforting her. "We tried to sell it at first, but no one really had the money, so we just boarded up the windows and bolt locked the door." Leo explained everything that happened back at Dung while we were here. It didn't sound like anything new happened, but I was surprised to hear that a marine ship visited the island. They usually skip the stinky island and go somewhere else, so this was a first.
"Where's the rest of the group?" Angie looked around the port, trying to see if she could spot them among the crowd of dockers. "Walking around, searching for jobs. Which, to our unfortunate luck, we might never find at a place like this." Donny's brows frown when he heard this, "This is a wealthy island, there are over thousands of businesses here and there are just as many nobles too." Donny seemed confused with our struggles, as if he can't believe we couldn't find anything here, at a place that had everything. Silver and I glanced at each other.
