Chapter 12

【Rufeite: Before I joined the Heavenly Cult, my character wasn't exactly exemplary. Cadilla and I attended the Galaxy Mecha Academy together, and our favorite pastime was comparing our moral standings, trying to push our limits.】

【Even though Napoleon entrusted Anno's body to me, he still resented me. After all, I dared to embrace Anno and kiss him, while he had not.】

Anno felt an unsettling calm wash over him. There was no explosive reaction, just a silent curse in his heart as he mentally deducted points from Rufeite's character.

The military training commenced, and all trainees were split into pairs. Each duo was assigned to conduct their training together.

The first session focused on physical fitness.

The H9 optical computer reintroduced the trainees to the two-story building designated for their military training. In just thirty seconds, it transformed their second-floor library and rest area into a closed training zone spanning 1,000 square meters. The area was divided into five sections-east, west, south, north, and center-each equipped with a full range of physical training gear and first aid supplies. Every six trainees entered one zone for training, and no one would come to their aid during these two hours, as it was just the first day.

Most trainees believed that two hours of physical training would be a breeze.

Cadilla frowned and leaned closer to Rufeite, whispering, "Only two hours on the first day? Are they trying to kill us?"

Rufeite shrugged, adjusting his sunglasses. "It's just two hours. Why are you so worried?"

Cadilla chose not to press further. When it came to matters of faith, Rufeite was a stubborn bigot, refusing to consider anyone else's opinion when he had made up his mind.

Not only was he opinionated, but he was also powerful enough to back it up.

Kane had latched onto Anno since they met, constantly pestering him for gossip about Rufeite. Upon learning that Rufeite had brought Anno into Jerusalem, Kane's demeanor shifted dramatically.

"Je...lo...sal...lem?" Kane stammered, disbelief etched across his face.

"Are you alright?" Anno asked, nudging him.

"You... you went to Jerusalem? You actually went to Jerusalem! Damn! You went to Jerusalem!"

Anno raised an eyebrow. "Do you really need to be that excited?"

"Of course! You know there's a church in Jerusalem! My old neighbor was a bishop. Whenever he visited, he'd bring me pine resin coconut milk. It's delicious! Did the Catholic Church treat you to any?"

Anno's face fell. To Kane, the divine ambiance of the Temple of Light paled in comparison to the pine resin coconut milk from Jerusalem.

"Sorry to disappoint you. I didn't get to try it," Anno replied.

"Then you must try it next time! They're rare, and I haven't found them sold anywhere but in Jerusalem!"

"I'll definitely give it a shot next time," Anno promised.

Kane was meant to be in a group of six with Anno, but to Anno's surprise, Kane ended up paired with Daniel, while An Peiling was grouped with Gu Xiaobei.

Kane pulled Anno along, and An Peiling had an unexplainable trust in him. Ultimately, Anno, An Peiling, Gu Xiaobei, Daniel, and Rufeite formed a group.

Kadilla looked at the other five in Rufeite's group and sighed, pointing at Rufeite, who was still leaning casually against the wall. "You really want to be in the same group with him?"
