Chapter 45

[Rufeite: I am feeling increasingly disillusioned with my current life. It seems that, from the perspective of the Pope and the Catholic Church, I am constantly engaged in tasks that I have grown weary of.

As for Anno, he spent three years honing his skills.

Now I realize that the one who relinquished the Sea of Consciousness and the Ancient Civilization Mecha is nothing more than an ordinary person. Everything he does is for me, with the hope that one day we can safely withdraw from this tumultuous world.]

Anno gently placed the paper letter back into the electronic bird’s beak. The bird tilted its neck, swallowing the letter, then flapped its mechanical wings and soared away.

Rufeite sat beneath the swing on the flower stand, his voice hoarse as he muttered, “My world for two has been shattered by such a serious letter from Amiya.”

With a soft smile, Anno replied, “I’ll give us 24 hours. After that, we’ll set out to find him.”

Rufeite paused, confused. “What else do you want?”

As Anno walked away, he glanced over his shoulder and called back, “What should I wear on a date? Do you think a suit would be too formal?”

Rufeite sighed, feeling a mix of exasperation and disbelief. “A suit only enhances a man’s demeanor.” He paused before suddenly raising his head. “Wait, where are you going? Who are you planning to date?”

This time, Anno halted and turned to face Rufeite, a glint in his eyes. “With a little brat. I’ve known him for ages, yet I don’t think we’ve ever had a proper date.” With that, he continued downstairs.

Rufeite stumbled off the swing but quickly regained his balance and dashed after Anno. “Wait, you want to date me? Are you joking? Are you teasing me? Hey! Stop right there!”

That afternoon, Rufeite found himself standing outside the Jialan Commercial District, dressed sharply in a black suit, a crisp white shirt, and stylish sunglasses.

Beside him, Anno wore a tailored version of the same suit, complete with a small bow tie and matching sunglasses, both striking a similar pose.

The commercial district was relatively quiet, and any passersby couldn’t help but turn their heads to glance at the two figures—one tall, the other short—standing side by side.

Someone whispered, “Hey, he’s so handsome! And the little boy is also good-looking. Are they father and son?”

Another voice chimed in, “Obviously! That big guy looks like a bodyguard, and that kid must be the son of a wealthy family!”

Anno stood at the entrance, frowning. He had been lost in thought about how ordinary people should date, and his prolonged contemplation had drawn quite a bit of attention.

He nudged Rufeite, who was standing silently beside him, and together they began walking toward the commercial district, each wrapped in their own thoughts.

With the rise of virtual networks today, few people ventured out to shop during the precious lunchtime. Anno and Rufeite walked side by side, and finally, Rufeite broke the silence. “Are you sure you want to date me?”

“What else would I do? Use you as a mobile clothes rack to dry my laundry?” Anno replied playfully.

“But…” Rufeite turned his head, his expression doubtful. “Do you even know how to date?”
