All Harmony felt was rage as she stood outside of the practice facility waiting for her sister. As soon as her shift was over she texted Jade asking to meet up. Luckily the rain had stopped so she didn't have to be irritated by that too.A few minutes went by before Jade came strolling outside drenched in sweat from her late night practice.
"Nene what's going on?" She asked in confusion. Harmony didn't hit her up unless she needed something.
"Aren't you supposed to be my sister?" Harmony questioned.
"I mean sometimes it's debatable, but yeah I guess," Jade said jokingly.
Harmony rolled her eyes. "This is serious. Why the hell didn't you tell me about Billie?"
Jade sighed. She knew that was coming at some point. "Look I told her to leave you alone. I don't know what else you want from me."
"A warning would've been nice," the older girl yelled.
Jade sucked her teeth. "Do you honestly think you deserved that Harmony? You're not really the victim here."
"What?"
"You heard me. You can't go around acting like a victim when you're the one who hurt her. You weren't on the phone with her when she cried over you, that was me. And it's crazy because all you had to do was tell her you didn't see her that way and never would."
"But she knew that already," Harmony argued back.
"So. You did too which means it wouldn't have hurt for you to reiterate that," Jade sighed. "Come on Harmony, haven't you ever liked someone so much that you figured maybe they would change their mind and like you too?"
The older girl blinked rapidly, tears threatening to fall from her eyes. "I really wasn't trying to hurt her. I just-"
"You liked how she made you feel," her sister finished for her. "Join the club. That's why everybody likes her. Billie just has a way with making people feel safe and seen. She's a good person and because of you she's less trusting and closed off. That's why you can't go around using people up to make yourself feel better."
Harmony came to Jade for answers and she got them. It was the reality check she needed, but it still made her feel like shit.
It wasn't that she didn't like Billie, actually it was very much the opposite. Harmony started to feel things after she and Billie slept together and it scared her. She had just been cheated on and Billie was about to move across the country for college so it didn't seem like the right time. She knew she wouldn't be able to handle long distance so she didn't even want to open that door.
And how was she supposed to just be friends with someone like Billie who made her body and heart feel good? Texting all the time and late night phone calls just couldn't happen. If they did that, Harmony was going to fall fast and hard, so she ran instead. Ultimately ghosting Billie until she got the picture and moved on.
